Naked RX3

Well, not completely bare.

It was time for another valve check/adjustment.

So while removing panels, I decided to go all the way.

No plastics, no cases, no case guards, no engine guards...

I hope I remember how it all goes back on.

What do you think?

A TT250 with radiators and fuel injection?

You may notice the left fork guard is still attached.

The lower bolt holding it on was so tight that the end of my hex wrench broke off in the socket head bolt, leaving me no way to remove it.

I'll try to drill it out, but that's a job for another day...needed to go riding.

Might need to lose the beak and windshield too. Then it'd be a Street Fighter RX3

(Don't forget to relocate your rear fender flap with one of those high and tight plate holders)

I like it, JB. Noticed it when I did my first valve clearance check and decided to pull the plastics to check all hardware security and wiring routing. I'd be fine if Zongshen left the forward plastic off and had a smooth sided tank.

I noticed the mount for the beak would be a nice starting point to mount a bikini fairing.

Jbfla. Looks a little more beefer than the tt.

Also since the covers are removed, buy a different color of that removable spray paint and experiment with a different color. They say it peels right off. See how it works,, or not

Looks good. Better than I would have thought! Now just lose the beak and clean up the tail and you'll be set!

If everything were removed, it would be totally naked!

It is noticeably quicker off the line.

I'm usually a conservative rider, but the lighter weight did encourage a more aggressive throttle.

I started to reassemble all the parts this morning when I remembered there is a DOT weigh station less than 10 miles away.

This is the weight slip for the RX3 as seen in the above pictures:

The RX3 had about 1/2 tank of gas,
No plastics, except windshield and beak, and left fork protector
no cases, or rear case guard
no engine guards

It did have a small tankbag and GPS...2#
and the optional center stand:

thanks jb, now we know. and that was pretty close to what I guessed going from what has been said about all the bags and guards adding about 50 lbs to the bike. She's no Twiggy, but more like an 250 Oprah rj

How much did it reduce in weight from stock? 20/30/40lbs? Like the look may try it myself. Thanks for the pics.

I didn't do a before and after.

It has been reported previously that the cases and guards weigh about 50 pounds.

I did not know those RX3's weighed so much. Just does not look like there is 360 lbs of material there. My Vulcan 500 is right at 400 lbs, but looks like afat pig compared to the 270ish lb. CRF230L sitting next to it. :-D
