Had the whole Fam Damily over for Easter and the Ural got a heck of a workout. Riders from my four year old grandson to my eighty three year old mother in law. Even got my adopted Ukrainian born niece to ride.

Oldest grandkid came from Maine.

Youngest grandkids just sat in the tub and mugged for the camera.

Youngest granddaughter thinks the foot well makes a great hiding place.

Passenger helmets.

I piloted for about sixty miles but feel like it was well over a hundred. I'm absolutely spent.

Hmmm, what's this?

The stamps are nice. And look, it's from Ukraine.

It's a motorcycle model kit of Granddad!

Can't be too hard, it's one whole sprue.

But wait, there's more. Hidden in the kit is was a Ukrainian One Hryvnia note, worth not quite four US cents.

Something to do when I'm bored.

Tis true. Can't tell you how many times I've been told what a great 'restoration' I've done. You can hear the thud of jaws dropping when I tell them it's only ten years old.

Latest upgrade from Outhouse Engineering and Fabrication, where our slogan is "Measure Once And Hope For The Best".

Total outlay was zero cents. Had the sheet metal. The muffler clamps and LEDs were left over from projects at work and my boss just told me to make them "Go Away".

Found out the that the tub is electrically insulated from the bike. So, 60 minutes to install and wire. 90 minutes to troubleshoot.

Those extra speedholes in the sheetmetal? Yeah, see the slogan for OE&F.

Got the radio installed in the sidecar yesterday.

Yeah, I know, the install isn't symmetric. Had to go with what worked. First impression is a resounding 'MEH'. It has a loose wire antenna instead of mast and the steel tub shields a lot of signal. The antenna is hardwired into the radio instead of plugged in. If I can figure out how to do it, I'll solder in a plug and lead, then run a mast.

The radio is FM only, has a 24 hr clock, and will accept an mp3 player such as an ipod. There are 18 presets available and it has auto search. The problem with the presets is that the instructions are lacking on how to do it. I will need to have one of the grandkids program it if I can't figure it out.

Now to the important part, sound and volume. On the local stations I can pickup due to the antenna, they come in crystal clear and the volume will drown out a Harley with straight pipes.

If it doesn't work out on the sidecar, It will end up on the CX.

I like the additions. what brand is the radio? I have a shark on my nomad. I really like the sound but it lacks the search capability. it does have the mp3 and SD card slots though.

on my new sidecar I'm just going to have a power plug. my girlfriend uses her ipod and earphones, so just keeping her phone powered is sufficient. I'm likely going to do the same on the bike. my headset has bluetooth to connect to the phone, so can use something like i-heart radio to listed all the time.

It's a DANHUACHEN from Amazon, $29.99 with shipping. Lacks the sd slot but I barely even use my ipod, so it's not a big deal.
