Throttle cable too short?

Installing mikuni 26mm carb from amazon. Slide in throat is approx 1/2 open, I've adjusted it all I can...what gives?? slide appears to be in correctly...I don't get it.
Any help appreciated.

Double check the sleeve installation by rotating it 180 degrees. Beyond that, make sure the throttle end is seating all the way into the cap. I bought a carb off of Amazon and the cable would not seat all the way. I ended up using the old cap.

i checked everything, ended up cutting upper adjusting sleeve down about 3/8".Was dicey using the grinder for it, but it is all good now. Made my EGR block off plate from some aluminum leftover from making firewall for my Mustang. Bike fired right up, just a small carb adjustment was needed to bring idle up a hair. Seems to run just fine, bit more snappy, power for sure. Just went around block as was raining a little bit. I like it so far!
Thanks for help!
