Battery Isolator

Im going to connect both my batteries by using a battery isolator and what i wanna know is will a inline fuse of 25amp be enough to put between the second battery and isolator?

also what gauge wire should i use for this.

also can i connect the ground to neg terminal on battery 2

I don't trust isolators. I'd rather use a constant-duty solenoid, like what GM uses when you order a second battery in a Silverado.
