Stock tire tube sizing and using front tube on back

So the stock tire size for a 2016 RX3 is 100/90R18 front and
130/70R17 rear. CSC's website isn't showing any tube information when going to their online store. Can someone tell me what tube numbers to look for?

Also, I was thinking about packing a spare front and use it in the back if need be. I've researched and have come across people with 21" fronts being able to limp home by stuffing it in the 18" back tire. Since my front and rear tires are way closer would a front tube be a good permanent fix for the rear?

eBay to the rescue

Never mind, I found that I can just input the tire dimensions and get the correct tube, somewhat. As long as it's a straight valve stem I'm guessing I'm good.

3.5/4.00 - 18 TR4

Stuffing your rear.

Good to see that you found the size answer on your own.

But using a front size tube in the rear tire is only a stop-gap measure, not a permanent repair. It can be done, just be sure to get a correct size tube as soon as you're able and pack it along for when it's needed.

I've had such bad luck with nails, mesquite thorns etc, I never leave home without tubes. Good that your thinking ahead cause it's gona happen and you can change it for sure in the field. Not so much fun, but doable.

I normally get my tires and tubes from American Moto Tire. They have a nice chart: http://www.americanmototire.com/cata....php?cPath=610

The manual conversion though is to understand what the tire sizing means.

100 is the width of the tire in MM which converts to 3.94 inches. Use this number when searching for tube sizes based on inches.

90 is the height of the tire are a percentage of the width. 100mm x 90% = 90mm = 3.54 inches.

18 is of course the size of the rim diameter.

Our stems are compatible with TR4 but TR6 also works.

Hope this helps!

A lot of KLR 650 riders regularly install an inner tube of size 100/100-18 in the 17-inch rear tires of their motorcycles. Therefore, I think you could carry a single, spare, 100/90-18 inner tube, and it would inflate the rear tire well enough, even for several days, to get you home. However, I would install an inner tube of the correct size as soon as possible after I arrived home.

I pack a single, 21-inch, inner tube as a spare for all my motorcycles, including my RX3, since I converted the RX3 to a 21-inch front wheel. With a little careful stuffing, the 21-inch tube inflates the rear tire well enough to travel for several days. Nevertheless, I always replace the larger tube as quickly as possible, and return it to duty as a spare, emergency tube.

Thanks for the reminder, Rob. I forgot to shave the last few days.

Are you speaking of Enterprise, Oregon? I haven't been over there for a quite a while, but it is a beautiful place. I know the Nez Perce tribe hated to be uprooted from there, for obvious reasons.

I took these photographs locally, in Idaho. We have several, domestic bison herds roaming nearby which are being fattened up on the open range. You can see the ear tags in the photograph below.
