Common parts.
How many common internal components do these engines have?
I've been having a think, I can't really afford to walk away from this bike. My questions are, if I could find a second hand 200cc, (or more likley 125cc here in the UK) OHC Zongshen motor, would I be wasting my time trying to A: put the complete 5 speed gearbox assembly into my 223cc casings? or B: put my 223cc crank, barrel and head onto the 200/125 bottom end? For the minimal difference in performance, why not just replace it with a stock OHC 200cc and leave it at that?

I second Fatboys idea. I HIGHLY doubt you could mate the 223 top end with a 200 tranny. HP difference will be minimal. You will probably miss 6 speeds, but we are all getting along with just 5 so go for it.
