Swinging arm bearings?

While I was fitting the new pins to the rear sprocket I found that the swinging arm bearings are knackered, like an inch of movement at the rear of the arm. How I failed to notice this when I was fitting the rear tyre I dont know!! Before I take it to bits can anybody give me an insight as to whats in there, needle rollers or bushes? Ive been greasing the arm alternate oil changes (4000km).

Jonathan.
