japanese clone info ( tao tao ata-250d atv )

this is what i have found out so far

the engine is a clone copy of the 70`s honda cmx250 motorcycle engine

the frame is a copy of the early honda atc 185 frame

the rear swingarm is a copy of the yamaha blaster

the bearing carrier is a copy of the kawasaki kfx90 atv

the rear axle shaft and sprocket hub is a copy of the can am ds90 atv

the front brake hubs are a copy of the honda trx 125 atv

i have won an auction for this yamaha blaster rear swingarm / axle assembly

http://www.ebay.com/itm/350527932216...WAX:IT&vxp=mtr

if you look closely , you will see that the tao tao swingarm is a exact match / clone and sits on the same angle as the yamaha blaster assembly.

now can anyone tell me where to purchase this specific sprocket for my tao tao axle hub

http://www.taotaoatvpartswholesale.c...6-p-22813.html

this website shows it to be in stock ( he has zero though )

any help is greatly appreciated

That sprocket might be a tall order, since it's a 420. You might want to consider a swap to a 428 for greater selection. Start perusing www.jtsprockets.com , and search for dirt bikes, atv's and street bikes under 200cc. It will take awhile, but you'll likely find a replacement.

i live in canada and have found that in the past i have found many sprockets at TSC stores...they have a farm equipment section with all sizes of chains, master links and sprocket sizes.....and mine here always has a ton of stock...I have made many of toys in the past that use a chain drive and always use these sprockets cuz they are in stock and cheap...hope you have one where you are and find it useful...one of my fav stores!!! imo it is even better then candian tire....which i think is a tall order....lol
good luck....oh and you may have to drill your own mounting holes...

thanks for the info

i never gave that idea a good thought , yes they do have large 520 sprockets

i did end up finding a sprocket distributor in canada

http://smallengines.ca/ecom.asp?pg=p...17&gotopgnum=2

they even have the sprocket i require

i am putting 2 26 inch maxxis mud bug tires on the rear of my ata-250d

when the weather warms up , i will be installing the honda trx125 front hubs

and with some wheel adapters off of ebay , i will be installing 25 inch tires on the front

I'm not seeing a pic in that link, and the info states that it's in the kart section. Are you sure this is the correct sprocket?

here is the other site that sells them

( never in stock though )

http://www.taotaoatvpartswholesale.c...6-p-22813.html

this site also lists parts for quite a few chinese atv`s and dirt bikes

this sprockets mounting bolt holes are a perfect match to my tao tao atv sprocket hub

including the metric threads and centre hole

I found this one with the correct center hole and PCD, but the wrong number of bolt holes: http://www.jtsprockets.com/catalogue/model/5805 . Also, It's only available with 28 teeth.

I would say no. BTW, buy the best chain you can. You'll find brand name 420 chains for a good price if you dig for them. You can check on eBay, your local big name bike shop or www.gnarlyparts.ca . You'll have good results with RK, DID or Tsubaki, to name a few.

What years were the yamaha blaster swing-arms the same (welded round tube)? I only have seen hydroformed aluminum swingarms for the blaster but maybe I haven't looked far enough back in years.
