Broken Center Stand

Went for a ride this morning, and when I got home I wanted to oil my chain.
Put the Mighty RX3 on the center stand, but the rear tire would not rotate. I then realized that the bike was resting on both front and rear tires and the center stand was broken.
I don't know when or how this happened. Anyone else have a similar experience? Did CSC warranty the broken Center Stand (I bought it with the bike)?

Didn't someone else have this happen? The center stand caught the edge of a curb or something like that?

Grin CSC works weekends

I already received a response to my email inquiry to Ryan at CSC:

"This is certainly a warranty item. I believe you have the very first version of the center stand. The new stand is not susceptible to this type of failure and now has an assist pedal. I’ll have one out to you promptly. Sorry for the trouble.

Thank you,
Ryan "

What a great response ! I remember a past poster (and he had a bike ordered and later cancelled by CSC!) that railed on and on about the lack of (I believe) support warranty ... Simply NOT the case as we have all discovered in the past year.... WELL DONE RYAN!

Thanks for reporting another example of excellent customer service from CSC.

The center stand on my bike just failed as well... I don't think it "broke", but I can see that it flexes a bit when deployed allowing both tires to touch the ground.

I will have to run out to CSC and see about getting it replaced.

Is yours an original design stand, or a new design stand with the assist lever?

Thanks for letting us know. I think this is about the 4th or 5th report I have seen regarding a failure of the first generation, CSC center stand. If your center stand fails, I suggest you contact CSC. They have been offering a reduced price for a replacement, 2nd generation, center stand.

My center stand, (original design) looks an performs as yours, it's useless , since I spent $100 for it an it didn't last 2 months . It just lies on a shelf ,I just couldn't bring myself to spend more. $$$$. On a replacement . It sucks cause it turned lubing the chain into a small chore.

The 2nd generation center stand sells for $129.95, but I think CSC would sell it to you for about $60.00.

Did you see where a new RX3 owner in Philadelphia has reported problems with the Pennsylvania DMV over registering his bike. I sure the issue will be resolved in his favor, but I can't believe the antics of the DMV in the PRP (People's Republic of Pennsylvania).

Yes I saw it,, in Pa you can't go to regular mom an pop title an tag shop , They will not issue tags or registration , I've tried several times, But instead a trip to a pa state dmv office , with a vin verification form , signed by a licensed inspection mechanic or state policeman , had always worked , Even on the dreaded pisterpro , that one took 3 tries to get all my ducks in a row.

Follow up report

This morning I removed the Gen 1 center stand and installed the Gen 2 center stand. The installation actually was very easy. The most important aspect is the orientation of the spring. Hook the back of the spring so that the hook is facing down. This allows the spring to mount on the centerstand easily. If the orientation is reversed (hook facing up) it is very difficult.

I am amazed at how much better this Gen 2 centerstand works. I will probably now use the centerstand much more.
