Got the 2nd Hawk together, Runs like crap.....

Hoping someone has an idea whats up. Got the 2nd hawk together last night and it is really boggy with an extremely high idle. You can let out the clutch at idle and it will roll about 10 MPH without touching the throttle. Cannot find any binding in the throttle cable and the adjustment at the handlebars is all the way in. Any ideas?

I suspect that the slide in the carb is not seated properly. There is a long groove on one side that mates with a pin inside the bore. The opposite side of the slide has a small ramp at the bottom, and that lines up with the idle screw.

So pull the carb and go through it?

An air leak is a possibility. Could be something like an intake tube O ring out of place.

I would consider switching carbs from bike to bike to see if that is the issue.

Took it apart and everything looked ok, Put it back together and it worked fine. Went on a 30 mile ride into the mountains tonight with both bikes without issue.....

Glad to hear that. Perhaps the slide was in backwards, and you corrected it.

Yep, that's often my experience with China bikes as well. Good news!
