That sounds like any open differential.

Ok so what it turned out being is the section of axel that goes through the differential, the small teeth on it are wore off enough for it to just spin. In need of a new rear axel.... any idea where to locate one?

Ok so I got the new rear wheel axle in mail today. I threw it into the rear end and that's all good but now I'm back to the drawing board..... put it in gear and it spins but then if I rev it up the axle stops spinning again. I am at a total lose now... please give me some ideas of where to go from here

I don't really know anything about your particular atv but if it has an auto clutch similar to Honda you can adjust it like this:

If you get a chance please post a few pictures, it might help us diagnose your problems a bit better. Lot's of knowledge on this site (not me!) and I'm sure someone can help you out

Thank u! The manual says to turn the screw opposite direction. I ran out to garage n did exactly what the guy did in video and the shaft was spinning like it should. Tomorrow I will put axle in and see what happens. I'll also mess around n try to post some pics. I really appreciate all the help so far.

Hey guys, sorry been couple days but to fill u guys in on were I'm at.... the you tube video worked great. Got the clutch adjusted and was able to wip around the yard on it a bit. Now need to locate some tie rod ends because the ones on it have some slop in them. I was told that these machines are very similar to the older honda's. Is this true? I also need to put brake pads on the front and some other minor tweaking/adjustments. But for the most part it is up and running!
