Who is she? I don't recognize her. Did you sit in the passenger seat for her first drive?

She is Briana and is staying with us. I thought I was going to die for the first few minutes. The dual airbags were only on one side.

Only two dead trees. She is getting the hang of driving. Glad we started with this van and not my car. It will be awhile before she is on the road.

Maybe she should practice on a garden tractor.

She has been mowing the lawn. Driving is improving. We ran out of gas yesterday.

The van is likely to be stripped of its powertrain this weekend. My Dad is coming down on Wednesday with his van in tow. I plan to have the engine out and on the stand before he gets here. The rest of the van can be pushed out of the way then.

The fun shall begin.

That's the best way. Pulling the engine out in advance allows you to clean it thoroughly and inspect the whole deal before installing it. You'll easily be able to deal with leaking valve covers, loose bolts, etc. Please take many pics!

Should be a pretty dramatic increase in power when you guys get it all swapped over! Looks like a lot of good parts on the donor van. The 4.3 flywheel will bolt up to the V8 with no problems?

I don't know if the flywheel will work. I think it should. This van has alot more power than his. I have driven both. His van has a hard time above 55mph.

Weld. I plan to replace valve cover gaskets and main seals etc before it goes back in. Far too easy to do it with the engine out.

Things I am not sure about. The ECM. I don't know if it will have a problem with the manual transmission and the flywheel. The rest of it should be pretty straight forward. I am sure we with find more items.

I'm glad to see you have a good helper, Allen.

The ECM might indeed be a problem. Have you searched online about re-flashing the ECM, or would you just try to find a manual trans version?

I'm hoping that you can just use the 4L60E in your Dad's van.

We plan to keep the manual transmission. I should be able to find an ECM that came out of a manual equipped truck.

Engine is out. This wasn't nearly as bad as people said it would be.
