Did you make sure the exhaust header nuts/bolts have enough torque on them? Don't remember exactly but it was over 10 or 12 ft lbs to seal that pipe up to the engine

Might have a leaky exhaust header gasket? Easy and cheap to fix that, get a Copper Crush Gasket from Honda

Or you might have the valves set on the wrong 'TDC' ?

Let me know if you can hear it.

I did hear a thump there which could be piston slap. If it was me, I'd find a long, decent size screwdriver, and test it by listening at various places down the cylinder by sticking the blade between the fins on either the front, back, or drive side of the engine, and sticking the handle end in my ear. After that I would do the crankcase where the main bearings are, and below the cylinder/crank case joint to see if it is the big end. Now you did the valves, right? Was there plenty of oil up there? If not, it could be an oiling problem, which like any of the other things you find are warranty issues. Valves sound awfully loose to me, Should be .002 intake, .004 exhaust, inches. Could be just how you had the mike of the camera...ARH

No, it's there cold or hot. I was hoping that once it warmed up the piston would expand and quite down, but it doesn't.

I set the valves to .005 per the manual. It's funny that all these bikes use the same motor but require different valve gap.

Oh, so you're saying the copper gasket may be rattling around. I'll check that.

You're lucky! I spend more time fixing sh*t then riding.

Did you ever sell yours?

Can you host it anywhere else but photobucket? My browser is choking on the sheer amount of ads and trackers that page tries to serve. Youtube would work.

My motor on my TT250 has a very distinct rattle. I'm told it's fine, it doesn't seem to bother it at all.

It's hard to tell from the video. Almost sounds like an exhaust leak. If you were close by I could check it out.

Probably not going to put it on YouTube.

It's definitely not normal. The thing sounds like there's a bucket of bolts in the cylinder. I sent the seller a lengthy email about the issue. Let's see if I get blown off with these folks... if so, they will lose.

Wish there was something I could do to help you. Can't remember what happened with your first hawk but I hope they don't try to pull anything. Almost all these sites offer a "12 month engine warranty".

Thanks, brian

I purchased an extended 12 month warranty, but that's only as good as the company backing it. I guess we'll find out Just how good.
