Jawa to sell Chinese made bike

Eastern European motor company Jawa will soon be selling a Chinese made motorcycle, and its a nice lookin' machine. Alas, they don't plan to sell it in the States.

What is the deal with selling in America. I Guess it is that we have lots of regulations, a sewn up market really only open to a few well known manufacturers (sucking up all the oxygen), and an oppressive dealer system that is impossible to penetrate for other brands without getting hammered by the big boys.

The deal is that USA won't accept EURO emissions certification, and instead mandates that our own testing be done at considerable expense, pass or fail.
If they wish to also sell in Calif, then additional cert must be done. How many bikes would they need to sell to justify the expense?

Your remarks about "a few well known manufacturers" and "an oppressive dealer system" are off target. Those entities paid the ante to have the right to sell certain vehicles here. Even Honda doesn't bother to sell some of it's machines here simply because it doesn't make marketing sense.
