Uni here also. Very pleased with it so far. Uni's are known to be a quality air filter.

Why get rid of the air box? Why can't I just put that Uni pod filter IN the original modded air box? Just thinking out loud. But I like the idea of my air filter being protected.

I've been thinking how I'm going to do that myself when it come time for a new filter. I should be able to accomplish that with some PVC pipe.

Just going from memory, but some people got junk air boxes from the factory so they wanted to replace/remove it, others probably just like the look.

I remember a guy that put a pod in his air box. It involved that pipe and some fittings on each end.

I went the simple route with a K & N drop in filter and rubber weather stripping to seal it because the lip is not as thick as the stock filter.

When my pipe comes in and I install it on the hawk250 there is possiblity of interfrence with air box . Gonna decide at that point on ways gonna be my move.
Either modding air box or going with Uni filter directly on carb . Most likley if I go direct filter to carb I will make spash guards to protect filter from direct water spray . This is just my thinking and may change mind before its all said and done. No worries as I will post pix when done .

Well when I put the exhaust system on the new bike, I am going to just use muffler shop wire to get the bends I want, then I will take the pipe to a shop I know of that has a mandrel bender and bend the sucker like I want and get it to fit like the stock pipe. I'm not really into bending the pipe (decreasing the I.D.) to clear the box. I'm not sure how this will play out, until I get another bike and get to it. The pipe is aluminum so bending it the correct way can't be to hard
