Lost Title Workaround
If you don't have title for your motorcycle, you can still get your bike registered in Vermont with a Vermont license plate. Once you have a license plate in Vermont, you can get a title for you bike in your home state by transferring the license plate. You can learn how to accomplish this task by reading the following thread.

Here is a link to a thread on another forum which describes the registration process in Vermont.

I bought a 1988 Suzuki Samurai on Monday. Looks like the process may work for it also. I think I will give it a try. Kansas would allow me to register it if it was 35 years old. Vermont is 15 years.

From what I am reading it will cost me about $100. $23 for antique plates and $77 tax. I am going to fill out the paperwork and mail it in. Worst case is that it comes back.

As a resident of Vermont I can say that it is a strange place, where else can you own and carry a gun with little to no requriements, register virtually anything with wheels are tracks (I have registered strange Eastern Bloc military vehicles without them batting an eye) provided you pay the tax and fees, yet get taxed nearly to death for no good reason.
I am dying to see if I could register a Tekken Fuego |

I am more than happy to send Vermont money if it means that I can get registration. Kansas didn't want my money.

Update, I got my application returned. They highlighted a couple blanks for me to fill out and I forgot to sign it. The amount I sent in must have been good as they had marked it ok. I filled in the blanks, signed and dated it and sent it back.
We will see.

When I got mine back they whited out info that was not needed, I think they whited out my CT drivers license number. for our VT friend, I love your state. I was there last week checking on my property in NH. Of course I had to stop at the VT country store right off exit 2 on rt 91.
The taxes were the only thing keeping me from buying property in VT, now the 10 round mag limit will keep me away from owning property there. VT has very loose gun laws yet incredibly low crime.... how could that be? If you can buy a gun, you can carry a gun. I wish I kept track of how long it took when I registered mine in VT. |
