Corbin 2 up seat helped a bit, but yeah it was a tiny bit tight on leg space. I honestly have more of an issue with the foot box area with my giant snow shoe feet and boots. Other than that, I enjoyed riding my Goldwing, it wasn't really all that bad.

With my 34" inseam and size 13 boots I had to remake the seat to a flat top and raise it 2 inches on my 78. Also installed a taller windshield so the wind blast wouldn't be at nose level. Still found it uncomfortable to have my feet behind the cylinder heads on long rides.

I have a little over 300,000 miles on three GL1100's 54,000 on a GL1200 what do you want to know? lol
I bought a 83 Interstate spring of 2019 with only 40,000 miles on it. Cosmetically like new and it ran but barely. New set of cambelts and lots of carb rebuild later it finally settled down and ran pretty well last summer but my Gas MPG is still not where it should be. I would pull all the brake calipers push the pistons out till the very edge of the seal is visible the scotch bright the pistons. EMGO makes acceptable master cylinder rebuild kits you can use honda accord cambelts you get at NAPA 250274. After cleaning the pistons and rebuilding the master cylinders I can easily lock up both wheels when braking.

The carbs are a little tougher to tackle. It seems Honda used a lot of od sized rubber in these and Generic parts often cause as many problems as they solve. I went through the arbs completely on my three previous GL1100's but none of them gave me as much trouble as this one, I mark it up to age (mine and the bikes! ) Progressive still offers shock upgrades for the 1100 but theya re somewhat generic in nature so I just added preload to the front, the back is sufficient for putting around.
Here is a site with lots of vintage wing info

I had heavy duty Progressives on the back on my GL1000 with progressive front springs, a fork brace, and Racetech valves in the forks. You would be surprised at how well it rode and handled for such an old girl. Also had needle bearing upgrades for the swing arm pivots that replaced the original bushings. That REALLY made a difference.

I have many levels of regret in getting rid of this bike.

I have often said if somebody started producing the first two generations of wings again and priced them right they would sell as fast as they could build them!

I put progressive rear dampers and front springs on my 83 Interstate when the bike had about 20,000 miles on it. It would carve up the corners nicely and would give a great ride one or two up. At Around 200,000 miles the bike started to feel loose in the corners. I put a new set of Progressive 412's on the back and new springs in the front but felt very little if any improvement. At That point I figured it either needed swing arm bearings or the frame was getting fatigued so I let the old girl go. :(
