100 Mile Ride to Eat

I'm doing the run-in procedure for my new RX3...been doing 50 miles a day. Now 100 miles.

Thankfully, Florida is not all beaches and Disney...

Part of one of the loops I ride, in west central FL, goes through the Green Swamp and then the Withlacoochee State Forest.

It's all paved roads, but usually doesn't have a lot of traffic.

And you don't see many of these road signs in FL:

eeek!

Along the way is a hang glider air park:

Today there was some activity. They use an ultralight aircraft to tow the hang gliders to altitude.

Stopped for some nourishment:

Then back home.

Nice report and the meal looks great. What kind of sandwich and what's the meal cost?

My town is at the base of some foothills and we watch hang gliders launch off the peak often, so when I first saw your note about the glider park I was confuzzled. Thought they were rubber band launching like toy gliders.

That's my kind of nourishment stop! Was it pulled pork?

Pulled pork BBQ sandwich...$6.95

The hang glider park does have a winch assisted launch device, but they can get to a much greater altitude with the ultralite tow.

Great pics. Makes me homesick. I grew up and spent most of my life in Daytona Beach. Not much fun riding in that area so rode many many miles in the Ocala area. The national forest has some great roads with little to no traffic, especially on Sunday mornings. Love the pics and would love to have some really good slow cooked BBQ and coleslaw. Miss the little mom and pop restaurants along the way too.

ALMOST FORGOT TO MENTION THE SWEET ICED TEA.....If you´re from the south (yall know who you are) its a mandatory BBQ lunch drink...Served in a ridiculously large plastic cup full of ice with unlimited refills...almost brings a tear to my eye thinking about it...ok yes im a little homesick.
