What in the world is AUCTIVA

I just went to pay for an Ebay item and the paypal link redirected me to Auctiva's site for the total then goes back to paypal (sort of - it looked like paypal) and wants me to LOG IN and pay.(FATT chance  )

I put the brakes on that deal and emailed the seller telling him I have a problem being redirected while paying.

But what is AUCTIVA I know its a site giving free 3rd party software solutions to sellers but nothing in the world is free and I wont even begin to type in my log on info in a redirect.

My first thought was they give away free software but log everyones paypal info and at some point in the future just make a money grab IDK.

Does anyone here use it or can anyone shed some light on it.

Have the seller send you his Email address and pay everything through paypal web site.

If they have a problem with that.......Well tough *** removed by moderator ***

Well geesh I would never have thought to do a search and look into auctiva .....Hmmm.

Yozalo the problem I had is when I click on the PAY NOW button it redirected me to AUCTIVA and there it miscalulated the shipping (left out the insurance) and then after clicking on the CONTINUE button it appeared to redirect me back to PAYPAL.

The paypal site looked close to my normal paypal site but somethings just werent right with it.

Thats where I see a serious security flaw that I just wont pass.
Being redirected to another site is where you run into problems and can open you up to someone grabbing your paypal username and password (bank account).
But then I'm probably jumping off the deep end because why would anyone want to get access to someone else's bank account.

You know what he did give me his email and I havnt double checked but I believe he gave me two different emails to paypal him.

I have been to busy this weekend to deal with this nonsense.

No matter I asked him to cancell it which is what he said he was willing to do so that hopefully will be the end of it.

Bottom line is : I dont trust him.

OH reading about how AUCTIVA was hit with a virus jan 20 of 2009 didnt make me feel anymore secure either.

Yes, they were hit with a vuirus. If you don't feel comfortable then I don't suggest paying.

Yep way ahead of you on that one.

Kind of sucks but then I'll get by without the stuff better than without my money.

So ACTIVA is yogurt and AUCTIVA is 3rd party software for EBAY.
(Hmmm I dont eat yogurt and did not know of either before this weekend)

From what I have found out about AUCTIVA is it has been hacked and supposidly fixed.
(will most likely be hacked again)

I always wonder why something is FREE ecspecially something like AUCTIVA and I am very suspicious of FREE software.
(all kinds of bad things are found in free software)

There is a lot of great software that is free to the end user.

That may be true JIM but there is a lot more of it out there that is free for other bad reasons.

Even though I doubt the seller was a scammer it was the redirect to AUCTIVA that got my attention.
After having talked to him on the phone I can see where he thinks he has it all under control, he's a "power seller" but I'd bet he doesnt have a clue on simple internet security.

He missed the whole thing that even though it looked like PAYPAL I couldnt/wouldnt take that risk but we worked it out.
