Fail to start

I am sorry if this has been answered somewhere else, but my searches didn't locate anything.

I did the upgrade with the Mikuni carb and 17T sprocket...when I did the carb it ran awesome, did the sprocket this evening and the bike won't start...no spark. I pulled the plug and it was black, so I dropped the main jet down from a 120 to a 110, and adjusted the mxture screw to 1 1/2 turns.

In the process of installing the sprocket it appears, after tearing everything apart, that I pinched a wire from the stator...the red/black lead. I have no idea if this could blow the CDI or coil, but the wire is intact, just damaged. I can splice it if needed, but until I find the cause of the missing spark I don't see a need.

The bike turns over great, lights all work...just no spark.

Any ideas of where to start? does this bike have a fuse block or even a main fuse other than the one on the battery lead ?

Check that you didn't acidently turn on the kill switch. You only have the one fuse.

Maybe check pins/sockets are seated in stator connectors. Jiggling wiring could have broken a connection.

I had unseated pins from the factory.

Red / white or black is 75v AC to stator to power it
Blue white is Hall effect sensor
Either busted bigbig no go

Sooo...sounds like that little pinch killed it...guess I will splice that wire and make sure the pin connectors are all seated. Thanks for the information.

It doesn't take much damage to cause a voltage drop, or increase resistance to a circuit. Something as simple as a kinked wire that broke internally can cause a CDI to missfire or lose enough power to stop functioning.
