mmprestine, yours is the first China bike I've noticed with a fluid switch for the brake lights; all others have had a mechanical switch with a spring.

Perhaps if footer can't get the light to shut off, the fluid switch has failed (if so equipped).

I doubt the hydraulic switch has failed, since it is normally open, and only closes when hydraulic pressure increases as the brake is actuated. However, if the switch has failed, it's easy to get a good replacement for it.

The link above is for the brake switch with the proper thread pitch for Japanese motorcycles.

oh i fixed the problem, i edited my post that same day. its at the bottom of that post. youtube got me thru it… was the front switch. it was unscrewed and hanging down so that the lever wasn't hitting it. screwed it in flush and brake light went off…

It's nice when it's an easy fix. Did you happen to take pics to share with us? It might help somebody down the line.

no, but i can loosen the screw and take a pic, lol. watching the youube video showed me how the brakes worked and then i just went out to check the switches and noticed the front brake switch wasn't sitting flush. I'm probably the only one who would've had trouble figuring it out on my own here. but ill make a post with pics about it in case we get another spaz on here like me some day. ** also, culcunes hint of looking at the parts page on excaliburs website helped. shows every part and where it goes. so now when i have an issue and someone says, check this or that part, ill know where to find it!!

ok so my first real problem with the bike. have a friend who has been wanting to check the problem, but hasn't happened when he is here. my rear brakes stick. the calipers he says. turned my disc blue he said? not sure how or when but a few times ill be shifting and i can feel it dragging, pull over and he told me to bang caliper and it loosens. is there an adjustment to make to keep it from happening? he said fluid is full… he thought the first time i might have just got a people stuck in pedal somewhere from the trail, but happened again in town.. any ideas what to look for?

Check the brake fluid level in the master cylinder. If the fluid level is too high, the brakes will stick.

The brake master cylinder must remain sealed; therefore, it never has a dipstick. The brake fluid level should be half way up the sight glass.

ok its prob 3/4 way up. so need to drain some? maybe a tip on that? and thanks again

**ahhh!!! i think i thunk it out! so when its on the kickstand, the top bubble swings over to the sight glass and it looks between half and three quarters fill. i stand it up straight, bubble is gone. they must have filled it when on kickstand. and you know what? they had told me when i got it, that they forgot to do oil change before they strapped it to the pallet so when they filled oils they over filled it. so maybe they did same with brakes? filled it while it was strapped to pallet on kick stand? ill take some pics, and some of the discs, you can tell me if i did some real damage to them yet?

** and thanks fpr the timely reply and for pointing me where to look! awesome forum!!!

OK, to preface this, I did read somewhere that stickers make it go faster? Haha! So the story is watching the packers preseason game drinking some beers. I decide to put on tmec stickers, and friend had a bunch of sheets of these stickers. Well the game was boring, and the beer tasted good... this happened! My friend loves it, I'm not too keen, might get used to it.. You guys have an opinion. Rather take em off while fairly fresh.

Haven't done much with it yet. Been talking to a guy (not that he knows specifically about Chinese bikes) about epa and exhaust stuff. He said to find out about aftermarket exhaust that would have more power, but noise legal I can get for it. As opposed to taking baffle out.
I did cut off back low reflector like I saw on another post. I'll have to go back to his post because he also mentioned something about his kickstand. Mine sits right at my heel so I always knock it down half way. Then a bump makes it drop and drag. I can ride it without hitting it. Just doesn't feel natural. think he turned his around or something.. also got a nice magnetic bag from amazon. Fits phone, license cash... not much more, but holds firm! Even off road doesn't budge.

OK the brakes / first I'll put some pics of what it looks like. Not sure if I did any real damage. If I should do something to the discs? Oh and got venom swing arm stands both front and back. Whoever suggested that style is right! They are awesome. I ordered wrong size, kept forgetting to measure and just guessed. But could push spring in far enough to drill new hole for counter pin and make it work just barely.

You measure all fluid levels while the bike is balanced upright, and level. If the brake fluid level rises above the top of the sight glass, the brake fluid level is excessive, and it could cause the brakes to stick. Here is a link to a thread on bleeding the brake fluid.
