The Commander rode the Enfield today. I rode his Harley. They were well suited to ride together in a non freeway environment.

Brief update.

Another couple hundred happy miles.

67.3 MPG average.

Measured top speed on GPS yesterday on flat highway with zero wind at about 80 degrees at 500 feet elevation is 85 MPH. This was in a mild tuck. I'm sure it would have gone faster if I was on the tank fully tucked and waited but saw no need to push it.

I bet Old Gringo's Continental can bust the ton any day of the week :-)

It was interesting that the vibration that is so prominent from 65-70 or so smooths out at about 75 and above.

85mph is nothing to sneeze at, given the displacment! I bet the smoothed out ride above 75 was a pleasant surprise.

Believe me Kato, this bike didn't want to do it either lol!

The beauty of the Enfield is that it is as much fun at 50 as the Ducati is at 100 or 150.

I believe this bike will help save my license.

Yep, 75 is plenty fast for me. Only one of my three bike will do over 75 MPH.

It is often said and I believe to be true it is as much fun to ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow.

50 on the back roads on the Enfield feels as good as 100+ (very '+' lol) on the Ducati.

That's a beautiful bike. My father-in-law had one for a few years. Sounds like a helicopter coming down the street :-) I think it was my favorite of all his bikes until the BMW 650GS he has currently.

Nice looking bike. After owning 2 small thumper Ducatis in the late 60's I purchased a '65 Royal Enfield 750 Interceptor for $500. It needed a little TLC to get it back on the road, but I loved that bike. This was around 1975, and I was lucky enough to get a good deal from the out-of-business dealer in San Diego for all of his remaining parts. Wound up with a complete extra motor and two frames.

I took a trip from San Diego up to Bryce Canyon Utah one vacation. Had a great week's worth of riding, but had to visit a chiropractor when I got back to get the feeling back in my right leg. I loved to eat up Sportsters whenever I could get them on a nice winding road.

Keep the rubber side down and the shiny side up.
