Detours to the South Platte

My wife took the lead yesterday and showed me all around some roads she knows near Conifer, CO. We only took a few pics at the South Platte River, but had a great time. I can't recommend enough the section from High Drive out of Evergreen to North Turkey Creek Road.

We stopped and rested at the South Platte River. Great place for some fly fishing (if I knew how to fly fish!)

On our way out of town at the beginning of our ride, we saw a lady rider on the side of the road and stopped to assist. Her bike had stalled and wouldn't start again. Checked the fuses and battery terminals and they were fine. She just had the stator replaced so I think it was either that or her 4 year old battery finally gave out.

She called a friend to pick her up and we decided to wait with her. Nice lady named Shannon, really friendly. Had a nice time talking about bikes and our favorite rides.

But when her friend showed up, he was a total jerk. Pulled his truck over in a cloud of dust. Ignored our hellos and started setting up the ramps. When he grabbed her handlebars, I asked how I could help, but he was already running. As he ran by he said just give him a push if he needed it.

Halfway up the ramp, he wasn't going to make it so I grabbed the tail and pushed. He got to the top but I lost my footing between the two ramps and landed on my butt. Again not a word if I was ok or thanks for the help. He just tied it down and jumped in the truck. Shannon was nice enough and thanked us for waiting an hour with her, but that guy was a piece of work!

But the rest of the day was awesome! Incredible scenery and nice twisties.

Thanks for posting the beautiful photos.

Why does a nice girl want to pair up with a jerk?

You're a good guy for trying to help, Detours. I'm sure that wasn't lost on Shannon.
