Expedition-style rack???
Hi,
I'm looking to buy another CB. I had a HI-bird 250 years ago. I think I'm leaning toward a Hawk 250 with 21/17" wheels. The problem is that it needs to carry 1-2 gallon of extra gas, a tent, and a large bag for my extra cloths, food, and water, for 3 day trip to the boonies. Is there a side-rack available anywhere? If not, is it easy to make one myself (bending stock metal and welding)?

Recent thread here about building a rack.
http://www.chinariders.net/showthread.php?t=14957 My only suggestion would be to pack as light as possible. I only heavily loaded my china bike once....it felt like I was treading water in a pond and someone tossed me a mill stone. I guess a worn rear tire and some sizeable water and mud holes didn't help either. |

I've found pannier racks on Taobao, but there's no guarantee that they'll bolt on. Anything you choose will likely require some fabrication.
It might be better to just fabricate and weld something.
