Megan and the Gold Wing.

Nothing special, we just went for a nice ride Wednesday afternoon. Megan really enjoys riding on the Gold Wing, or any bike for that matter. It's a pleasure to have a lady friend who enjoys some of the same things I do. It's also nice we can talk on the intercom while riding and listen to music.

You're a blessed man, but I think you already know that.

I do know it Brother Deryyk. In countless ways, none of which I deserve. I try to appreciate the Earthly gifts and remain meek. I know the Earthly gifts are all temporary anyways, our real treasure is stored in Heaven.

With that said, riding with Megan is like Heaven.

I know the feeling, Doc....but Mrs 2LZ prefers to ride her own. 8)
We carve canyons together like dancing, we've got so many miles now.
We don't have headsets though....she communicates well enough through finger jestures.

Don't the intercom and the music distract you from watching DVDs while riding the Gold Wing? 8O Wait a second...I forgot about the autotpilot!

As always, Miss Megan looks lovely.

You are especially blessed. An advantage to having Miss Megan with me rather than on her own bike is it's less worry for me out there on her own. I tend to worry...

BTW if you like I have 2 barely used excellent quality add-on radio intercoms. VOX activated, FM, range about a mile. They work well but I don't have a need for them. Cheap!

I'll look at the GPS occasionally but I prefer te view over the windshield to anything on a DVD, Brother Spud.

Miss Megan's heart is as beautiful as her outside. I am blessed indeed.

Amen! I couldn't resist making a Gold Wing joke, Brother Bill. Without a doubt, the Honda Gold Wing is the ultimate touring motorcycle, and has been such since its introduction.

I think the current 1600cc BMW has it beat in most performance paramaters. Much more torque and horsepower (IIRC 25% and 33% respectively), about 100 lbs less weight, with more sophisticated suspension and electronics. From the reviews I've read the only advantage the Gold Wing retains is much better passenger accomodations.

Also a vastly superior dealer network (important for a transcontinental motorcycle), much lower upkeep costs, and not having to deal with BMW people  ).

The BMW also costs thousands LESS (can you believe that?!), and is a new design. The 'new' 2012 GW is identical to the 2001 except for some minor trim and electronic changes.

When was this BMW motorcycle introduced, Doc? Can you post a link to the bikes description/review? It's hard to believe the BMW has a lower MSRP; however, the higher maintenance costs will quickly negate that advantage!

The new Beemer.

The 'new' Gold Wing.

Given my riding personality, given the choice of either one, if I was in the market for such a bike, I would likely buy the BMW.

Lord help me.

The Honda still has another advantage. The 1850cc engine commonly goes to 300,000 miles and above, with only routine care. I am aware of no other bike that can say that. There is a track record of designed in reliability that can only be undertood after years of post-market analysis. The new BMW engine simply cannot claim that. Such a reputation takes millions of miles to build on roads all over the world.

Plus, the Hoda carries Miss Megan. No other bike can lay claim to that privelage. 8)
