2012 Mototaxi ride - from Cisco to Piura

Talked with a few of you, but for those familiar with Peru the race begins January 1st. Hopefully, I'll find the occaisional wifi hotspot to upload photos and such. If a moderator feels this is better for an alternate topic, please feel free to move it.

Otherwise, we're planning our first few days going from cusco to abancay to andahuayas to chincheros. The mountain route seems to be too steep and rainy for these mototaxis. If anyone has any alternate suggestions, we're listening. This is a change from a previous suggestion as we've heard the rivers have been flooding and the climb is too much for our 125cc motos with almost 500lbs of gear and people on them.

Stay tuned!
Pagogh

I am in Ayacucho tonight, not too far away, warm and sunny here, heading towards Abancay and Cusco in a couple of days

Abancay 02/01/2012

Made it to Abancay tonight!

Should we:
- go to Ayacucho to Pisco (through Apacheta)
- go to Nazca up the coast
- go to Ayacucho to Huancayo through the mountains

Any suggestions?

The mototaxi survived decently from Anta to Abancay through all the elevations and steep hills. We had to stop a few times to allow the engine to cool down.

Thanks! I'll post some pictures in another post.

I´d go to Ayacucho- Huancayo through the mountains, don´t go up the coast from Nazca, you will have problems with the policia. I´ll be in Andahuaylas tomorrow afternoon (3 January), should be on your route, still no rain here in Ayacucho

Thanks for posting the route suggestions, OG. If you have time, please post lots of photographs, Pikacho!
