If you miss having a helmet lock on your RX3, or other motorcycle, you can install the following helmet locks which are integrated with the license plate.

Walmart sells these for $7.72

Place helmet on passenger seat and place cable through chin bar and grab rail of the mighty RX3. Lock fits easily into saddle bags when not in use and securely hold helmet so that the inside is protected from dust and rain.

Indeed, the hefty grab rail of the RX3 makes the cable lock an excellent, inexpensive option.

Both are neat ideas. I'd gravitate towards the Remington lock, because perhaps you could also lock the rotor to the frame, so it's difficult to roll the bike away.

I use a Helmetlok locking carabiner. It's big enough to go around the handlebar or engine bars.

I don't leave my helmet on my bike. It's an Arai XD4 and it's got a Sena s20 attached to it. That's like leaving $750 just lying on the bike for the taking.

However, I do have those Remington locks from Wally World for that very same reason. I can't recall where they are. Oh, now I remember, they are with my other stolen bike. HAHA!

So, yeah, I carry my helmet in everywhere. I have a carabiner attached to my jacket, if I get tired of holding it.

I've been using a Kuryakyn 4248 on all my bikes since 2003. First on my V-Strom 1000 and now on my NC700X.

I don't have a $750 helmet, but I put my helmet in my Garage Pro Travel Trunk, or I wear it. Nevertheless, many people like helmet locks, so I thought I would start a thread on the topic.

Back before I started riding, or was even interested in riding, I was witness to a helmet theft. Guy just walked up to a bike, and in one swift movement, pulled out his pocket knife and snipped the chin strap while it was locked to one of those factory helmet locks on the bike.

That incident never left my memory. It's hard for me to leave my helmet anywhere. However, on those long road trips, where you just need to get out of your gear, and walk around (and not look like a storm trooper) I do carry a long coiled up cable lock, and run t through the sleeve and pant leg, and through the chin bar of my helmet, to the bike.

But obviously that situation is different than running into the store, or restaurant or movies. Where one would not want to be bothered carrying in their helmet.

That's why I highly suggest getting a mini cable lock, and going through the chin bar. Forget that nylon chin strap. That's barely keeping honest people honest. If someone wants your helmet that bad, at least make them work for it.

A long cable is definitely safest. Especially for an expensive helmet. I certainly wouldn't hang a shoei or arai by the D-rings in any helmet lock.
