Da Winter Blahs

It's hard to get motivated this time of the year.

I have plenty of crap to do, I just don't want to do it. Jeep needs an oil change, new Ipod screen to install, the Diesel Project is stalled, the damn slot car track still doesn't work right, and the weather is shitty. If there was at least a modicum of snow, we'd get out on snowshoes. It's too damn early in the year for mud boots.

I did have a laugh this morning when the new guy called me and asked if the annual inventory was always this effed up. Nope. It started being that bad once we moved to Beaufort. He told me management said 2.5 days. I said you'll still be counting Thursday of next week.

I'm going to see if I can find some cheese to go with this whine. If I can talk myself into doing it.

Yah.... I hear ya. Especially right now. The mad rush of the Holidays is finally behind us, boxes are packed, relatives are sent away....and now reality sets in. "Oh yah....where was I?"

It snowed last night. Not enough to stick long, just enough to make me not want to go spend time in my freezing shop, wrenching. I'd much rather feed the wood stove and pet the dog. As long as Mrs. 2LZ can hear the laundry machines from her office, it's good cover.....

I did get off my ass and do the Jeep. That used up about an hour. Guess I'll head into the basement and see if I can eff up the Ipod again.

I'd need it if I was there. It's inventory time and it's been a cluster since the 'End Time Snow' of 2018.

This year, it started last Tuesday and manglement thumped its' chest and said it would be complete by noon Thursday. I guess they meant next Thursday.

I did get out roller skating with the grandsons yesterday and had a pretty good time with them. I can still skate, sort of.

Owen, in his Hawks Jersey.

Eli mugging. Wish I had at least some of his hair.

Owen cruisin' for chicks.

Loved roller skating when I was young. Small town skating rink was a gathering place on the weekends. Never could get any good at backwards though.

Here's my view, preparing for my nightly ass-whoopin by Mrs. 2LZ. As stated above, dominoes is a nightly deal for us when locked down for the Winter. Beats staring at the tube. Pic taken last week. The little tree is now packed away.

I played dominoes with my grandpa when I was a kid. I recall having a good time, possibly because of grandmas' cookies.

I used to hang out at Rollin' Wheels in Twin Lakes, WI. I think it's a parking lot now. I plan on hitting the Funway rink at least once a week while the weather is too crappy for much else. It looks like I actually have three pairs of skates, so I'll try the blades next week. The last pair are a cheap pair of Chicago quad skates that are seriously in need of new wheels. I'll root through my daughters spare wheels and see if she has something that has a bit less grip and bit more slip than I'm running on my good quads. I miss clay wheels.

Boy, two days of sunshine. Got off my ass and got some stuff done. We took down the Christmas decorations Saturday and went to the SILs 40th b'day party. Owen's hockey and Jake's b'day breakfast on Sunday morning. Finished the Ipod, finally, Sunday afternoon. It even works.

We did the Menard's run yesterday, serviced the bearings on my roller blades, and got all the decorations in the basement. Mrs.C is going to go through the almost 50 year accumulation and do some thinning. I offered to toss it all, saved for the ones the kids made, but she didn't go for that.

I got the pegboard up in the wood shop and got that a bit more organized. I also mounted the mini grinder on one of the benches and will sharpen all the wood chisels tomorrow morning.

It felt pretty good not butt sitting.

Dang....a few days of sunshine. Snow has finally melted away. Got a few things done in the shop. Almost spoiled. Got some snow today. Nothing like the mid-west right now, and my buddy in Michigan, but I'm bitching as a CA guy. High of 36' today. T-shirt weather for my MI buddy.

I know....I know....it's only January. Getting tired of hauling firewood already. My stable is not happy. I'll get over it. Promise. Anyone else ready for a little riding?
