Desert Run on the Q

Took my Qlink on a ride this morning, thought I would share.

I've broken the 1500 km mark and the bike still runs perfect. Not as fast as my RM250 but still a blast to ride. It gets more looks too.

Overview of some of the desert just North of Phoenix.

Riding is serious business, no smiling allowed.

My $10 fender bag from Wal-Mart, found it in the bicycle accessories.

You, the Q and the scnery all look great. How are you making out on the sand? That gave Q and I fits, especially with the stock tires.

Yeah sand takes work with the stock tires. I think that's why I have so much fun on it. My RM can get through anything by pinning the throttle and holding on whereas the Q takes finesse.

Looks like you will be in for a replacement rear soon anyway.

Awesome pics, thanks for sharing . Everytime I see pics of a Q or Konker I'm sad that I sold mine. Enjoy the ride!

Cheers,
Stew

Thanks for posting the great photos, PR! It appears your bike is shod with a Kenda, K270 rear tire. I encourage you to try a Kenda, K760, TrakMaster rear tire next; that tire should work well for you.

It looks like it was a great day for a ride. Thanks for the pics.

I appreciated the comment about pinning the throttle on your RM.

How do the TrakMasters hold up to road usage? They look perfect for desert riding but I'm concerned asphalt will tear them apart quickly.

The TrakMaster tires hold up well on pavement if you mount them on a smaller, 200cc motorcycle. I ride my Zong on the pavement a lot, and I usually get about 4,000 miles out of a rear, TrakMaster tire. I mounted a TrakMaster rear tire on my Honda XR650L, and got 1,500 miles out of it, mostly riding on pavement, because I mounted the tire in October. I could have squeezed several hundred more miles out of it, if I had ridden the tire until it was bald. The Kenda, K760, TrakMaster rear tire is an excellent choice for your XP200 motorcycle. These tires aren't expensive; give one a try, and I think you will enjoy it very much!

You're welcome, PR. I think you might find the best price for the Kenda TrakMaster tires at Rocky Mountain ATV/MC. I've mounted several sizes of this tire on my Zong, and I recommend the size 110/100-18 tire for your rear wheel.
