New Coolster 150-DX2.

So I posted my first time last night and was told to start a new thread....lol. I kinda hijacked someone's thread.
My name is Leon. I'm in Ashby Massachusetts in case anyone else is around. Kinda new to these "wheelers", I already have 2 110cc Coolster's, one bigger and one of the small ones. Today, my 150cc was delivered to my work. My boss was skeptical, but after seeing it, he wants one too...lol. Assembly went well by myself, from 3pm to 5:30. And that was uncrating to filling with gas and test ride. The frame of the crate had some damage and the bleeder screw for the rear brake was broken off and a couple scuffs here and there. Everything went together great. I do see some large rubber grommets that I couldn't figure out where they go. The smaller ones held the foot wells to the body. Next, I'm trying to figure out the hand guards.

Couple other things, if I wanted to add a small lightbar up front, where would I wire it up to? Direct to the battery with a switch? Second, I think the carb needs adjustment already as it dosent start on first crank... fires and dies- unless given a bit o' throttle. If just coasting around light throttle, it seems it wants to bog and die, then clears up... right around 1/8" to 1/4" of thumb applied. Any pointers on adjusting that?
Also, I have a ton of 5/30 Mobil 1 synthetic... can I run that? I think I saw 10w30
Thanks.

Don't use mobil 1

Need to find oil that is jaso-ma certified which supports the cylinder and wet clutch application. Don't run the factory oil either....period

If this is a friction belt drive , it doesn't require jaso oil

So I'm done tinkering for the night, haven't really ridden it yet but did take a few laps around my property. I noticed a really loud vibration noise with low to mid rpm. Then when I got back to my garage, the brake light no longer worked. Tested the bulb and it was blown, running light still working though. Then I thought about it and revved it up in neutral a bit. What'd ya know, the vibration is the thin steel mount for the taillight shaking violently. That explains the blown bulb! And if I hold the mount in my hand and rev it up,... no vibration sound. Go figure. So that will be something I look into fixing now as well. Maybe they make an led replacement tail light for it too.

If any one has any suggestions for mods and upgrades, please let me know.
Also there's a few questions I posted in my first post here if anyone can help.
Thanks.

You have a dry clutch system so you can run any 10w30 oil including Mobil 1. Don't run synthetic until you put some hours on the motor to let it break in and the rings set. You can also flip the rear wheel so the valve stem is on the inside to change the offset and have a wider wheel base at the rear. I see your tires are directional so you will have to swap them from one side to the other. this will make it more stable on turns. As far as the light bar I would run it to the battery with a fuse and switch. A lot of the vibration you are getting will go away after the engine breaks in. Try adjusting the idle screw on the carburetor. it's more than likely set to low. That should resolve the starting and idling issue.

You can also find "motorcycle" Mobil 1 made for wet clutches. I get mine at Auto Zone....but like JerryHawk says, you have a dry clutch anyway.

Not to start a "dreaded oil thread", but I'm a BIG proponent of synthetic....but it seems like every CB I have loves the 15W-40 diesel dino oil the best. Fine with me! Cheap! I've had some clutch chatter and squeal out of all the synth oils I've run in the CB's.

Looking good and thanks for sharing the pictures. Here is my light upgrades thread:

http://www.chinariders.net/showthread.php?t=17571

I just spliced the new headlight it into the "high" beam wire because I didn't want to have more switches and the stock LED lights don't do much anyhow. Looks like someone needs a bigger garage......

I forgot the newer models have the LED's so it shouldn't be a problem tapping into the existing wiring with the new light. I have the conventional old style lights on mine.

Was curious Jerry, how bright are those old style lights? I could barely ride at night with the stock LEDs that came on mine. Are you running the stock plugs in yours?

Sorry about the slight “highjack”.

They are pretty bright on high beam . Low beam is good enough for riding at night on the trails but not for any distant lighting.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. Gonna run it a few hours before changing and since I have a Powerstroke diesel, I have plenty of 15w40 around.
With that said, I got to spend about a half hour tearing through the snow on my 6 acre property. There's about a 4-6" frozen base with 2" of powder on top. This thing is pretty impressive I must say. It climbs right up steep hills with a lil extra throttle, and drives over piles of brush buried under snow no problem. I drove around with my 75 lb daughter as well as me at 255 and it didn't even struggle at all.
One thing I think I want to upgrade asap is the shocks. They are poor at best. Wayyy too stiff, almost like they intended for a 600 lb rider.

Swampy- My garage is 28x34 with two floors. Upstairs is a finished game room and big screen (SUPERBOWL! Go Pats!) Wouldn't mind an elevator to get stuff upstairs...lol. My mistake was forgetting to put my riding mower in the shed before the snow came... and the power washer... and the yard trailer/cart.

Looks like you had some fun. Those shocks will loosen up after a while and not be so stiff.

I was going to link you to one of my threads but I dumped the pics. I put a hitch on my Rhino. Most like the same or very similar swingarm to your Coolster.
Here's what I did. Worked out well, even though I made it for a pin hitch. I believe Dart Racer has a ball on his. He basically did the same thing.
