I've had a set for 14 months. They've held up really well and that included a couple of falls and they didn't fall apart. They are waterproof and I know living in the PNW!!! The top case is 40 liters and holds my full face adventure helmet with a visor just fine and measures 15L x 13W x 12.5H, the side cases are 36 liters and measure 17L x 8W x 16.25H. Here is a link to their blog on the view of the base rack mounts: http://californiascooterco.com/blog/?p=17316. Once you get them you "may" have to make one modification to the base rack...but it's an easy one. If you have a 2016 or beyond RX3 Zong changed suppliers for the rear blinkers on the bike...they are wider than the 2015's so the base rack will cause the indicator to rub and get pushed a bit by the luggage on the non-exhaust side. There is an easy fix by replacing the stock bolt that comes with the kit with a longer one and a couple of nuts....see the picture. The on/off uses a clone of the Touratech pucks and only takes a second to put them on and off. I like this as I purchased Giant Loop Round the World panniers and they come with the option for Touratech pucks so my soft luggage connects exactly the same was as my hard luggage....NICE! I use hard luggage around town and long road trips...soft luggage for offroad adventures. The other thing to be aware of is for the top box, the 4 pucks that slide into the keyhole mounts on the base rack are made of plastic even though it looks like metal. If you do bouncy offroad stuff with the top box on those can break and send the top box tumbling down the trail....don't ask how I know :0). I ended up using a dremel and cutting the bottom portion of the tabs off and replacing them with longer bolts, stainless steel washer and nylon lock nut which I then covered with hot melt glue so I don't scratch stuff when I set them down...now it's all good! As far as the width goes, with the cases being 8" wide and from the pictures you can see the standoff from the bike it should give you a good idea of the overall width. Hopefully the pictures and this info helps. Take it easy!

Joe

Thanks for the info. Mine get here Wednesday. Merry Xmas to me.

We'll see how long it takes the wife to notice them...

My wife doesn't like the motorcycle so she doesn't look at it. That has meant that as I've added stuff to it she has never noticed. I've even asked her if she saw X or Y and she said no. Lucky me!!!

Thanks Joe!!!!
That helps alot.
Your pictures give me a much better idea on the size and fit. Nice to hear about the water resistance and that they can take a bit of abuse.

I don't mind the stock luggage for day trips and even weekend get aways, I like how slim they are, however it would be nice to find a larger alternative for longer trips.

Speaking of which, it's great to see your winter escape, It looks like you're getting some great riding out of your bike.

Your Alaska trip will be fantastic as well. If you travel through Alberta, maybe we can meet up!

Thanks again.
Thor.

If only I were so lucky. My wife has her own RX3. If I buy something for mine she will want one too so it costs me double.

This is how we found CSC, RX3, and China Riders to begin with. I bought a KLR 650 a few years back after a 20 yr layoff from riding. My wife asked "Where's mine?" She's vertically challenged and ended up on a XT225 for a while. I got a trunk and some soft luggage for the KLR and started solo moto-camping. Not her thing but she wanted some hard bags vs. a tail rack and/or back pack. She found the RX-3 from an ADV rider thread, found and read the positive info here so we took the plunge. Her's is lowered and has the low seat. Works well for her. I took her RX on the Baja tour in 2016 and since ended up getting an RX of my own last year. Got a TT250 when they came out. Have sold the XT225 and KLR.

I do have the exact same problem when it comes to bicycles though. We both race and she will want something new when I get it. Crazy thing is my race bikes cost 2x to 3x the RX3 and we have 15 of them.

It looks like only 24 spokes on that front wheel. You are being ripped off.

Looks great Jeff!!

( I've been married long enough to know there is no correct answer to the does my butt look too big kind of questions)

How many beer can you fit in the top box???

(Discalimer-not that I approve of that sort of thing )

How do you feel about the quality of the boxes and the design/ strength of the mounts?

About how wide is the bike from the outside to outside of the boxes now?

Thanks!

The boxes seem to be very well built. The frame is ok, I had to push and pull a few pieces to get them to line up and one of the welded on nuts stripped out. I just put in a longer bolt with a nut on the back side.

It's now 35" wide in the back and that's tight.
