So I ran into a dilemma. I went ahead and installed the muffler and started it up and still wouldn't rev until it warmed up a little. After it warmed up a but I was reving it a bit and it sounded great! Then all of a sudden it shut off. I tried a shot of starting fluid to see if it was a fuel problem but nothing. Took out the spark plug to so if I had spark and it has a blue spark. So now I'm stumped at what todo. It has fuel and ignition and plenty of compression.

Any idea?

So I went ahead and checked all the connections on the bike and made sure everything was tight and still nothing. Went ahead and ordered another spark plug, coil, and cdi to try and rule stuff out. Will give an update once I get those parts in!

The carb is stock. It still has the tamper resistant screws in it

The stock jetting is terribly lean. Makes for hard starts and cold idle issues like you are experiencing. Need to jet and tune that stock carb at a minimum

Even so, I thought I ruled that out by using a shot of starting fluid and I didn't even get a pop out of it. That's what led me to believe it was an ignition issue. Also I already have a set of new jets but I'm just trying to get it running

Thanks!

Im assuming its a carburetor issue that ill have to look at later but thats the update for now!

yep sounds like choke is on

That's the thing tho. I get spark but the motor does even pop. So that means the kill switch should be fine right?
And its getting fuel because of that shot of starting fluid which should get it to pop. So I'm just thinking that the ignition coil could be week or the cdi or something. All the parts came in tonight. Just have to hook it all up and see. Just to confirm the CDI is DC and not AC right?

Well I think this story is coming to an end. I went ahead and replaced the sparkplug and the ignition coil and it fired right up. Finished buttoning it up and took it for a ride! I know I have a little ways to go, like jetting and tuning the carb. Does anyone know where I can get cheap platics for the bike?

Excellent work. Sounds nice and healthy now.

As far as plastics, the tank and side panels can be used from a tt250.
