How much lube are you talking about? just a light coat on top the piston or like a real heavy layer?

I used assembly lube which is basically a grease thats suppose to dissolve after you run it. Its a bit thicker then oil but I just put a coat on the cylinder wall and valves when I installed everything

200 psi seem high. should be around 175-180 psi. Did you measure the distance from the pin to top of piston to see if it was the same as the old piston?

Yes I measured the two and they were identical

May be the assembly lube does have something to do with it. I know you didn't take that much off the head cleaning it. lol Hopefully it's just your gauge is off.

Quite possible. Thick oil like assembly lube will stick and seal things up a little better. 200psi wouldn't alarm me at all on a fresh overhaul if I knew everything else was correct/set properly. Nice strong number.

Agreed with Megadan.... 200 is good with grease/lube... when i did a new piston in my 200 without grease style lube (just motor oil) i saw 190....

Did you have the throttle open or closed during the compression test?

I didnt have the carb on. I Just bolted the head on and did the compression test with open intake and exhaust

That makes a difference. Imagine having the intake tube and carb installed with the throttle closed on the carb. It would draw very little air in that case, resulting in lower numbers. A wide open throttle (or in your case, no carb) allows the cylinder to grab as much air as will fill it. No exhaust also means that there is no back-pressure restriction, which also allows the cylinder to fill more completely. I think 200psi with no carb or exhaust sounds like a good number.

Well Today I got the motor back installed on the Hawk. Bolted everything except for the exhaust because I wanted to make sure it ran before I put it all back together. It didnt start at first but after some convincing i got it to start and idle. The video is below. The only issue is when I give it any throttle at all it dies. Im assuming its a carburetor issue that ill have to look at later but thats the update for now!

Sounds good. Once you have the exhaust and air box connected it should run better. Engine probably died because it hasn't warmed up enough.

Put the exhaust on and then try to run it before assuming a carb problem. No exhaust at all will throw off the carb tuning, and it won't want to idle or run correctly.
