Rim lock sies for Hawk?

Those of you who've installed rim locks, what sizes did you buy? I think the rear is 2.15".. is the front a 1.6"? Correct me if I'm wrong!

That's supposed to say "rim lock SIZES", btw. damned fingers...

without going out to the garage that sounds right for the bead size,

Tusk makes a real good steel one, ive seen the aluminum ones break on people in the past.

what do you plan on doing with the Hawk ?, usually dont see people using rim locks unless they are into some pretty crazy stuff.

I figured I'd throw some on while I swapped out the rear tube and when I get another front wheel. I like the idea of being able to run lower tire pressures offroad and not ripping the valve stem out of a tube. Am I worried over nothing, or would it be wise to drop a set in? It'll be mostly woodland trails or fields. I'm wondering if I'd even need one for the front.

it cant hurt to have them in,
most people dont use them in the front because there isnt any torque being applied to the front tire.

im kind of curious if it will throw off the wheel balance at higher speeds on the road.

Oh, I'm sure it will, but I don't plan on running any highways with it. Maybe some blacktop, but not highway. If it becomes an issue, there's always those wheel weights that clamp onto the spokes to get it close.
I had my doubts on whether I'd need one on front or not. I may just go with one in the rear and be done with it. I just don't like the idea of ripping the stem out of a $27 tube (4mm Michelins) LOL!

are the rims on the Hawk even drilled out for rim locks?

im gonna go look at mine later.

the hole should be directly across from the valve stem hole.

No, you will have to drill a hole.

thats what i used. drilled the wheel, didnt bother in the front.

can down pressure with confidence, but it does throw off the balance, so goodnidea on the spoke mounted weights.

the balance becomes apparent at high speed speed, well say 50 or so.

the hawk is a whole different thing with the tire at 21-24 psi instead of the 40 recomended for the rear tire.

What about a 360* rim loc on both sides of the rim...
run very low pressure or no pressure to get home after
a punture....
possably the single biggest advancement in dirt bike tyres
in resent times...
I have to buy another set... put mine in my Husaburg then
sold it with them still in it....

Hey Pete, can you run those things up to highway speeds 70-75? I think they are up to a 2nd or 3rd gen , just wondering for the plug repair beneifit of tubless tires on the street.

yes... theres alot of ADV riders over here that use them...
our max speed limit is 100kmph (60 mph)..

there web site says not for road use... but they are made in the land
of the law suit...
some brain dead yank coming off the dirt with 5psi in it then blames everyone because he tossed the bike on the first highwaycorner
think they are covering there ass...

Do these bikes make that much torque to warrant rim locks?

With the stock 15/50 gear ratio and low tire pressure yes. My rear tube had busted because there was some kind of oil on the tire bead from the factory. It slipped and busted the tube. If most of your riding is street riding with the proper amount of air in the tire there shouldn't be any problems.
