well I think 24 years of being married to an Italian Gal that knows how to cook has negated any weight advantage I had

AH OH
I must be missing something here.
I have spent literally an hour looking for a 46T sprocket
for this Bashan / Jet Moto / Will Dual sport.
No dice.
JT list's a part# on their website, but no one HAS the sprocket.

It is a 4-bolt on 90mm bolt pattern.

Contact JT Sprockets directly. They have sold me sprockets that I couldn't find retail.

Thanks Mudflap. I did just that, and in a short time just now got a reply
back:

" I am sorry to hear about your difficulties. The 46 tooth size is not sold in North America. We do not normally sell direct but under these circumstances I can special order it for you from our London warehouse. You would need to pay for the additional shipping charges and it would take about two weeks. Please let me know if you are interested in doing this as I will have to contact them for pricing and availability.
Best Regards

Well, at least they are offering to help!
Yeeesh.
Waiting now to get a cost quote.

I'm pretty sure I have a spare gently used 45 that'll fit. PM me if you're interested

I was positive these bikes used the hub pattern for the '79 or thereabouts Honda XL185? My TMEC uses a hub that several Euro-spec 125cc motards use, and I easily found it on the JT site--but, alas, I, too got the exact same response about having to order it from JT's headquarters in England.

I researched numerous online motorcycle accessory shops throughout Europe who carried the sprocket, and the only one who had no problem selling me one was this place. The sprocket came in about a week or so, and cost less than ordering it direct from JT!

Will this fit? http://www.jtsprockets.com/catalogue/model/191

If so, here is one in 35 teeth on ebay:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/JT-35-Tooth-...-/321191451803

or one on ebay from the UK with a high shipping price in 44 teeth form:

35T would be wayyyyyyyyy too short ( or is that tall?) of a gear ratio.
And the 35T sprocket listed on E-Bay would not fit.
The Bashan / Jet Moto / WILL bike uses a 4-bolt on 90mm bolt pattern.
The sprocket you listed a link to on e-bay is a 6-bolt.

Looking for a final drive of around 2.7
A 17T front/46T rear gives that 2.7 ratio.

From what I have learned listening to the experience's of those that have
already been down this road in the past, anything lower than 2.7 really
makes it tough to ease around in 1st without slipping the clutch a lot.
Causing more wear on the clutch. ( So I was told)
IF a say 35T that did have the correct 4 on 90mm bolt pattern were to be found,
it would make the final ratio 2.06

One last thing though depending on price, I may order about 6 of the 46T sprockets and can resell them here (and e-bay) since they seem to be so hard to come by. IF I can get them for an average price of say $40 ea. after inbound freight.

On this thread, there was discussion about a Bashan sprocket http://chinariders.net/showthread.ph...=bashan&page=3 and if you go to page 4, another guy chimed in that he changed his sprocket to a 37 without any details, and he never came back!

Try this. Ignore the photo and look at the diagram. 45T I search jtr269 on amazon. Also I have use a 1980 Honda XL185S to find sprockets.

It's the center hole in the diagram that I'm curious about. I wonder if it is 58mm on Louis' bike.

I will have to remove the rear sprocket to get an accurate
measurement of the pilot hole.
*** crosses fingers! ***

I do not have time to do this tonight, but will tomorrow night.

:-D

That was what we used waaaaaay back in the stone ages of Chinariders (2007 or so?). I remember many more were available via Dennis Kirk in all kinds of sizes, however. I ordered a Jt from Kirk in 46 teeth I believe (it might have been 44), for my Jetmoto 200 enduro.
