It appears Masvingo Toyota, in Zimbabwe, Rhodesia, might also be importing the Zongshen RX3.

Here is a link to an interesting, short term review of the Minsk TRX 300i, which is posted in a Belarusian forum. The owner rode his bike for 300 miles before he put it away for the long, cold, Belarusian winter.

http://www.abw.by/news/178833/

Among other things, the reviewer comments on several known quirks of the RX3. The speedometer is about 15 percent optimistic. The fuel gauge is pessimistic, indicating the tank is near empty when it is actually half full. He also comments the bike is geared high, and doesn't make much power when the engine is lugged at low rpms. Of course, the Minsk TRX 300i is the only version of the Zong which comes equipped with a stock, 17-inch rear wheel. Anyone in North America switching to a larger rear wheel will probably want to switch to either a smaller, counter shaft sprocket, or a larger rear sprocket, or both.

All of the other comments are favorable, and familiar to us as well. The EFI engine starts easily, and runs well. He likes the plastic, switchgear, engine guards, and general quality of manufacture.

It's interesting to note the Minsk comes equipped with Mitas tires.

A lot of RX3 videos have been posted in this thread. If you want to go back and view the videos again, it's nice to have all of them posted in one, convenient location. Therefore, I posted all of the RX3 videos in a new thread, located at the following link.

Found out information for shipping a RX-3.
Crate will be approximately 425lbs.
96"L x 36"W x 48"H
Class 150
NMFC# 1902901

Shipping from Azuza, CA to my warehouse in Kansas City, MO area.
1 bike $317.72
2 bikes $540.14 (270.07 each)
3 bikes $689.90 (229.97 each)
4 bikes $909.93 (227.48 each)

I have 2 bikes coming to me for sure and another buddy might make it 3. Anyone else want to join? By the time we get to 4+ then you can start to look at dedicated trailer service.

Anyways will give everyone an idea of freight costs.

That's good news! Thanks for doing the research, and posting the information. Anybody in the Kansas City area should definitely consider this deal.

I like the stock luggage of the RX3, and I'm sure it will serve well for most situations. However, I have been considering other, inexpensive options for enlarging the carrying capacity of the bike.

I really like my Garage Pro Travel Trunk, which I purchased from J.C. Whitney for $36, delivered. I mounted this trunk on my Zongshen ZS200GY-2 for my recent, 5-day expedition across Idaho's Magruder Corridor.

Here's a view of the storage capacity for the Garage Pro Travel Trunk.

The side panniers can also be replaced on longer trips with large, inexpensive, horse saddle bags.

Fastenal doesn't ship motorcycles

Just got this email quote back from Fastenal Logistics on shipping RX3 to Walla Walla, WA.
"Thank you for the opportunity to quote. Unfortunately Fastenal cannot ship motorcycles. We can however ship engines, parts, etc. from motorcycles." Pity as the store is within a few miles of me, rj

Thanks for checking, and letting us know the results. It was certainly worth a try.

I just discovered some nice photographs on another thread which show the area under the right crankcase cover of the NC250 engine.

http://www.mychinamoto.com/forums/sh...3121#post73121

Zhongshen manufactures quality engines. Look at the nice casting of the right crankcase cover. Also, take note of the very nice clutch basket and clutch lifter plate. You can also see quality gaskets still attached to the crankcase cover and clutch cover.

I really appreciate the removable clutch cover, which makes inspecting and replacing the clutch plates a much easier task. Examining the crankcase cover, you can see the journal from the oil pump which directly lubricates the crankshaft and piston connecting rod.

The next photograph displays a very nice, two-chamber oil pump, quality gears, and another, excellent engine casting. I also like the robust shifter star.

I'm not trying to be rude, but reading the post which contains these photographs, it's edifying to note the mechanical inexperience of the poster, and the Chinese mechanic he consulted. This repair was not difficult, and was very typical for most motorcycles.

I continue to be very impressed with the quality of manufacture for this motorcycle. However, I'm not surprised; my Zongshen ZS200GY-2 exhibits similar quality.

This generic black trunk was $30 with shipping from amazon. It has room for a helmet and gloves and fit nicely on the stock ssr luggage rack. So far I like it a lot although it has yet to take a beating off road.

That trunk has a nice, aerodynamic shape. Does it come with a steel, or plastic mounting plate?
