Paint Question

I used Krylon Fusion paint for painting my plastics sides and front cover. Great paint, but what happened was when I filled up my gas tank too much some spilled out the side and dripped down the plastic front plates and destroyed the paint.

Would anyone know a awesome quality paint that I can paint these plastic covers that already have TrimClad paint on it, or I can remove the paint if this will work better or keep it on. What paint would be good for this? Any tips

Thanks

Not sure about the TrimClad paint but most here swear by Krylon Fusion for plastics. Works awesome....and like Spud did to his Yamazong, you can spray some UV protectant over it as well to help it last. Not much out of a can will be very good against gas spills though.

Different Paints out there.

Was getting peoples different ideas about paints, see if there is same or better quality to get a better shine or make it look metal instead of plastic.

Something that maybe can take more resistance to gas spills.. hmmm

I have read of paint damage in previous post that's why I'm always very carful of spills and quickly wipe up. It must be due to the weird plastic being used.

The only paints and clear coats that are fuel resistant are the two part epoxys.

Was my experience that anything with acetone as a sealer was bubbling the Fusion paint. I think it requires Fusion gloss only. Latex based. I was not very impressed with my paint project but I am not a painter.

There are 2K clear coat products that are available in a spray bomb. You could try that over Krylon Fusion.

Diggy this stuff is amazing. Very easy to work with. Same clear coat finish that is on all vehicles. Just shop around a little for the best price.

I recently painted the steel fuel tank of my Zongshen RX3 with Krylon Fusion spray paint. I am waiting for the Krylon paint to cure for 12 days, at which point I am going to cover it with SprayMax 2K Clear Coat. I have read several reports where SprayMax 2K Clear Coat did not damage Krylon Fusion paint, as long as the Krylon paint was allowed first to fully cure. I am going to test these reports, and I will let you know my results later this week.
