Checking Bearings???

I have my rear wheel off messing around with it. It has 3 bearings in it. 2 in the wheel hub and 1 in the sprocket carrier. I stick my finger in the bearings to spin them around and feel them. 1 bearing spins smooth and feels what I think to be good. 2 of the bearings spin but with a noticeable 'notchy' feeling. Are the 2 'notchy' bearings shot and need replaced?

How do I knock the bearing out of the wheel hub? I watched a YouTube video that showed sticking a screwdriver into the hub from the opposite side and punching out the bearing. But that guy had a space inside the hub to get behind the bearing. My wheel hub does not have that space. Inside my hub is a bearing, then a metal sleeve, then a bearing. The metal sleeve makes my wheel hub completely smooth inside with no lip/space to get behind the bearing I want to knock out.

If it's like China hubs I've had, the tube spacer can be knocked a little out of position. After that, I've decimated bearings in the removal process. No matter, since Japanese sealed bearings are cheap.

Yeh I purchased 6 brand new bearings several weeks ago for $5.00. Looks like all the bearings in the front wheel and rear wheel are the same size.

Get a bearing removal kit, or the individual pieces which fit your bearings.

I have used this tools for years, and I love it. It makes bearing removal an easy process.

I like that style as well, although the puller bears on the hub, which would matter if any of my bikes had shiny paint.

You can buy a blind bearing puller at Harbor Freight, or Rocky Mountain ATV/MC.

However, the tool I recommended works much faster, as well as preserving shiny paint, et cetera.
