The new ride!

Stuck in Omaha traffic, so I thought I would post a new pic of the new ride!

At least the photos are "sized right" and I don't have to scroll a million pixels left/right/up/down to guess what the hell I'm looking at

Which Magna? They were made in a variety of displacements. All were beasts.

Surprised you didn't disappear into a pothole or end up under water.

Nice Magna though. I really liked the V65 I had for a brief time.

Looks like it might be a mid '90s-early '00s Magna 750.

It's a 1994 VF750C. I've always really liked these bikes and got a killer deal on it.

This is the best pic I have so far. The white stuff on the seat is actually ice. I had to leave it outside the night I brought it home because it was late and rainy. I brought it in the next morning. The bike is super dirty. I just can't believe that the guy would put it away for winter with it being so dirty. I did confirm that the film of grime all of the bike just wipes right off. I'm sure it will shine very nicely when I clean and polish it. I'm so psyched about this bike!

Rear tire is pretty new and front tires look fine.

I think you made one hell of a deal. Bike should clean up real nice. I wish I could run across a deal like that.

No, I don't mind. I was scouring craigslist and this guy just posted a 1994 Magna. He said it didn't run (possible battery issue) and it idled high when he last ran it. I jumped on it and checked it out. It looked dirty, but otherwise in very good shape. No leaks, the front forks looks good, gas tank look good, oil looked good, etc. It has 29k miles, but that's not terrible for Hondas and for a '94. I've seen these listed with 50 or even 70k miles. I can tell that he didn't know how to do any maintenance on it (e.g., he put it away pretty dirty, the chain needs lubed). He moved away...his mother had to show me the bike...I know what you're thinking...sounds like a set up. He is a younger guy, probably like 25. His mom showed me the paperwork and receipts. He had just purchased it the year prior from a bike dealership in SD. I figured that was good because there's more chance a dealer might have done things to it before selling it. She probably wanted it out of her garage. I took the gamble on it.

He only wanted $500 for it! For that price, you'd expect dents in the tank, scratches, etc. None of that. It's in good shape, but just dirty. I knew if I walked away from it, it would be gone that night. His mom had the clean title and bill of sale ready to go. I took it home. The next morning, I popped in the battery I bought for the Apollo and the Magna cranked right up. I adjusted the idle screw and it toned the idle down.

I've wanted this bike for a while. I've very psyched about it. I haven't had a chance to do anything with it yet. It's still a little chilly here and that other bike is taking up my time. But, this weekend is supposed to be nice. I'll at least wash it and give it a quick run around town.

I went to the DMV yesterday, with the fear in the back of my head that the DMV lady was going to tell me the VIN comes up as a stolen bike or something. Nothing. Clean and easy process. Was in and out in minutes and it cost me $55 for tax, title, and registration. In Nebraska the tax is like 5% and the purchase price was only $500. And, the DMV here actually gives you the title right there. They print it off right for you. So, I have a clean title in my name for the bike already in hand.

Just warm enough to give the new bike a quick wash. This weekend, I plan to give it another wash, polish the chrome, and run through some routine maintenance on it (oil change, coolant check, tire pressure, chain lube, etc). I went and got some Rotella today.

Took some pics of it today.

Yeah, she cleaned up really nice. Word of advice, check the date codes on the tires. I don't trust old tires, regardless of how good the tread is. Older than 5 years and I would consider replacing them.

Now we just need to find an excuse to meet up and do a little Honda V4 cruising. I will try to not outrun you
