Non replaceable ball joint 200cc SunL

Check these out. looks like I'm going to have to buy new a-arms because the ball joints cannot be replaced :(

Generally they are just tack welded in there ,if you can break that Weld there is a good chance you can find another bj to go in to the arm .I have done a few with no issues .

I agree with Bruce. I can't see from the pictures where the welds actually are. Start pressing/beating them out and you might be surprised how easy they come out.

Impact air hammer will knock it right out if you can get it braced solid.

So you guys think that the part circled in red will come loose and come upward? I really don't think it will. What is holding it in? A seem weld? The replacement ball joints I've seen use a snap ring

It might be welded ,pressed in ,or who knows ? ,it's hard with the limited pictures to see what's holding it in ,but with a little work It will probably pop out .

If there's a snap ring. It will be on the spindle side. Those are pressed in from the back to prevent damaging the ball joint and tapered stud mount. They should press right out. You'll need to find a shop with at least a 20-ton press. It shouldn't cost much to have a good auto shop press them out.

Have you pulled that rubber boot all the way off the Ball joint yet (I seen you pull at it for the pic)? Usually you will find that 'Snap Ring/Retaining Clip' hidden under the rubber dust boot/grease seal... but I haven't worked on a SunL, so I'm not sure if it's the same or not?

A BFHammer or a Ball Joint Press usually works after you find/remove the Snap Ring... start soaking the parts in Kroil, PB'laster, Liquid Wrench, JB80, Pentro 90, Acetone/ATF Mix, etc... just soak the ball joint with some kind of good penetrating oil

Then lightly grease the hole and the new Ball Joint before you install... will make installing/removing this new one much easier

There is not a snap ring under the boot. I'll put it on a press and see of it comes out but it appears welded all the way around. I'll run it the way it is for awhile and update when I put it on the press

In the pic below, there appears to be a painted over dividing line between the BJ housing and the control arm. The factory may have popped a couple tack welds around it as a way to judge if the BJ is moving in the control arm.

Also, have a look on aliexpress. I found a complete new front end cheap, on there for either an ATV or UTV.

Thanks Ben, I'll check it out! If I can't get the ball joint out, I'll look at replacing the arms. I have it all back together now. The joints on the right side are really bad so I'll tear it apart again soon.

I suggest for the next ones, drilling the top and adding a zerk. I did that with mine. Uppers and lowers. They started to squeak bad but had no play. Threw a fitting on and wal la' fixed.
