Thank you for the video! Well produced and informative. I hear you on the stiff suspension with scooters. All the ones I have ridden, including my daily rider TGB, seem like the suspension comes from a go-kart factory. I feel...every...single...bump...in...the.......road ...

Very welcome.
The thing I noticed about the Helix after the first 1/2 mile. You don't on a Helix!

Problems already

Well, today did NOT go well.
But, at least the problem is consistent.
Here is what she is doing:
Starts up like it should, , after warming up 2 - 3 min I headed out down a backroad just off of our subdivision road.
About 1/2 mile down that road, it started bogging down and within just a few
seconds it died. Waited about 30 seconds and it started back up with a bit of a studder / stumble, then went back to running like new. , , , , , , for another 1/2 mile.
Then, repeat all above.
My first knee jerk reaction was air in the lines or something. Or maybe some leftover gunk trying to push its way through.
After going 3 miles, , , 1/2 mile at a time, , , I turned around and went back
home, , , , , , 1/2 mile at a time.
I have not checked the spark plug because if you own a Zodiac you will see it is IMPOSSIBLE to pull the spark plug while the exhaust is hot. Nooooooooooooo way to get to it without loosing all layers of skin tissue.
OR removing the entire body. ( witch would be stupid to do )
It does have a new NGK D_9___ ( I forgot what # exactly ) that I put in
from the Honda shop. Ironically, I think it is the exact same spark plug as my Helix. I THINK.
Sooooooooooooo, , , , either I have a bad fuel filter, something in the tank causing a fuel restriction, a bad spark plug ( unlikely ) or a bad coil pack.
Gonna start with both a new fuel filter AND another spark plug. Both fairly easy cheap to swap, and go from there.

Crack the fuel cap and see if the problem goes away.

Well, not sure what it was exactly, but I replaced the fuel filter * spark plug and went on my first actual on road ride. Road all through downtown and out on the 4 lane going out of town. ( still 45 MPH on that part of the 4 lane ).
Went and filled up with non ethanol gas, bopped around some more,
21 miles total and it never hiccupped in the slightest.
I am betting the fuel filter was the culprit. Why on earth I did not use a
NEW filter when I set the bike up is just silly. I kept the other spark plug because I feel it was not the issue. Hey, nothing wrong with keeping a spare spark plug on board anyways!
OH, speaking of, I LIED !!!! I said " if you own a Zodiac you will see it is IMPOSSIBLE to pull the spark plug while the exhaust is hot. Nooooooooooooo way to get to it without loosing all layers of skin tissue. "
I was proven wrong. Little did I know until this morning you can take the battery out and remove the tray the battery sits in and low and behold, there is the spark plug. Still a lot to go through to get to it, but is doable in about 10 min.
As far as the RIDE itself: Ehhhhhhh, I am not all that crazy about it. On my Helix, it is like a laid back relaxing low effort ride. On this Zodiac, the steering effort required to keep it centered in the lane, plus the BRUTAL HARSH ride, and the seat that is sevierely underpadded, just not all that much fun or relaxing. Kind of intense really. However, as far as the seat goes, I have an awesome fuzzy covered gel pad for motorcycle seats that should completely alleviate that problem.
I am going to be looking into finding some different rear shocks. Something more along the lines of what is on the Helix. Ever drove a Dodge Ram 3500??? I swear they ride smoother than this trike. No B.S.
S T I F F. Te FRONT seems smooth. Just the rear tries to auto eject your kidneys over every tiny crack in the pavement. And yes, the shacks are adjustable, and are on their SOFTEST of FIVE settings!!!!
.
BUT HEY!!!!!!!!!! It is running like a champ now!!!!!

What about lowering your tire pressure?

By the way there are several Helix trikes for sale in Florida. Seems like Helix trikes was a very popular mod in the day.

Tires already lowered to 25 PSI. Don't want to go too much lower. :-/

Like my TGB--harsh! Mine is the 'Delivery' model, so is technically made to be a commercial vehicle, not a personal transportation bike, but still! I can imagine all the complaints from people getting drenched once they opened their 2-liter soda after having paid good money for pizza and soda, and left a decent tip...

I hope you can figure out how to make the trike ride smoothly. I wonder if the rental/tour company in Vegas keeps their bikes stock, or improves the ride for their customers?

Part of the problem with the rear suspension is in the design.
the ONLY movement is for both rear wheels to go straight up and down
at the same time. AND the shocks are insanely stiff with all of about 1.5"
of travel best I could tell.
One of those "trike kits" that add what I like to call training wheels on the
back actually is a much better design as far as ride comfort goes, because
with those, all 3 back wheels are on their own suspension. Usually torsion
bar or leaf spring for the outer wheels. But they all move independent of each other. Looks goofy, in my opinion, but works much better.
.
BlackBike, what are you anting pictures of specifically? As for the bike itself,
I can take no better pictures than what is available on the internet.
If it is pictures of the fuel lines, I do not wish to take the battery, seat bracket, and battery support tray all back off just for taking pictures. Sorry. Just a lot to go through.
