Thumbs Up First 40 mile Grom ride.

After getting new shoes on my 29 foot TT, I had to go to my mothers and mow her yard. Seems I will be mowing it from here on. After her fight with cancer a couple of years ago, she has got to the point that she is so weak now she can no longer steer the mower. And in truth, she does not need to be out there doing that anyways.
Anywhooooooo, , , it is roughly 20 miles to her place if I take the backroads all the way there. And I often do, even when in my truck. BEAUTIFUL backroads to travel on all the way there.
So I took the Grom out for it's official madden voyage.
Some thoughts:
** Although the ride is VERY stiff, it is not as stiff as it was on the CB300F I had last year.
** SOMEONE at Honda need to learn how to make seats again. Every new Honda I sat on in the showroom, the seats SUCK!!! BUT, ( no pun intended ) there is a company that makes AWESOME seat padding & covers called Seat Concepts. Check them out. They have gotten rave reviews. So I will be ordering a seat recover kit from them.
** Uphill is a throttle pinned 45 MPH affair.
** Into a 20 MPH headwind is also a 45 MPH affair.
** The little bike is so frigg'n tiny and light weight that I kept OVER cornering. Nearly steering myself off the road more than once!
Yes, that is just a learning how to ride it thing. To say "these bikes are flickable" would be like saying a top fuel dragster "accelerates fairly well"
** The stock tires SUCK! I have put myself on the waiting list at Dennis Kirk for a set of Maxxis M6024 all terrain knobby tires when the shipment comes in.
** I AM IN LOVE WITH MY GROM!!!!
In spite of the shortcomings listed above, you just simply have to ride one for about 10 miles to understand the feeling. It is impossible for me to describe really. They are just THAT much FUN!!!
Oh, and one last thing, while in town, they are frigg'n Awesome fun!
Zip in around and through all over the place, and heaven help you if you stop at a gas station. I went for cigs, and took like 10 minutes to leave because young dudes kept coming over and wanting to sit on it & talk about them. LOL
It is an attention getter. That is for sure.

Does the Honda CB300F have a very stiff suspension?

Photos, please; we need more photos.

The Grom sounds like a hoot, and fortunately, all those gripes are fixable.

The "low HP" is 'fixable' too , have read of people doing 200+cc engine builds with an intercooled turbo to boot

Lets just say I rode a hard tail bobber ( with a springer seat ) that rode BETTER than the CB300F.
And I am not joking about that either.
.
Already installed a rear fender eliminator and NCY brake reservoir cover, with new tires and a mini windscreen on the way. Will post pics when more mods get done and it is pic worthy. :-)
