They didn't really detune it in terms of power, they re-tuned it to deliver the power differently. It delivers more torque sooner in the RPM range, and also has a heavier crank and flywheel to deliver the power more smoothly and predictably than the 450X engine, which is a race motor.

The 450L is still a mean and powerful machine though, and can still catch the inexperienced off guard.

Completely sure. The CRF450L in the U.S. market makes over 40hp with long maintenance intervals. It was retuned to be reliable and useable on the roads and highways without the high maintenance and reliability issues of the race bikes.

well u see wikipedia link says other wise, I want to read a bit more about it ... plesae do share me refernce where they actually checked or if Honda official annouced its HPs..

nonetheless I am pretty damn sure if detuned asia wing claims 40+ hps and new NC450 Dirt Bike T6 450 is also 40+ Hps then actuall honda must not feel any pain providing 40 horses... so I really want to read about it... what Honda is cookin.. becuase I know Honda is always ahead of the curve... so they know what they are doin... and its always increase of knowledge why and how they did it..

the new T6 which i stumbled upon is a dirt bike powered with NC450 and has 40.2~ HPs claim...
