We went out for a ride yesterday. (No pics. But I'll make a post in my riding thread. Kinda a funny trip)

My brother rode the gio as he has no motorized toys at the moment.
I wasent there. But what sounds like a diecent WOT run the hose on the valve cover poped off and spewed oil EVERYWHERE. I've noticed from the beginning of owning this thing it's had outstanding crank case pressure.
This hose looks like it routs into the cvt housing.
What is its purpose. Or can I vent it elsewhere and will it help ?
Can I run a hose somewhere and out a filter such as http://www.ebay.com/itm/321297177665 this on the end ?

Any input is appreciated

Pics would help us offer suggestions. I suspect it's a vent hose, but I don't want to guess.

I can get actual pics tomorrow. This is a googled image

The hose at the top. If read it can also vent to airbox. But it vents to cvt case ?

Another google image. But shows cvt vent



This quad needs a rebuild aswell it goes through plugs too. Not as fast as xr. But last one came out caked in oil.
Is it worth going bigger bore. Or stick to 150 if it's cheaper ?

Yes, they're both vent hoses, and the engine vent is designed to work with a filter that is housed in the CVT cover. By comparison, your XR simply points the vent hose to the ground, routed behind the engine.

Either design will work, but the XR method allows dust to be drawn in, as well as pressure to be vented out. A good option is an inline disposable filter, but those require replacement. You can fabricate a catch can, and that would capture any oil, yet still allow the engine to breathe. You can route the vent hose high up under the seat, where it will be unlikely to release any oil.

The CVT vent is much like the vent in the rear axle of your 'Yota.

I would certainly choose a 160cc cylinder and piston if I was going to rebuild. You're likely to find it for the same price as a 150cc cylinder.

Thanks for the answers. Seems like easy "mods"

I haven't looked much in cylinder options for gy6 but is there a couple different versions
Different bolt spacing for the 4 cylinder bolts ?

If so is there a quick easy way to determine what one I have ?
