Pretty cool video. Anyone know anything about these motors? Are they a copy of something?

I was watching this video again. I like the engine design the way the head is so simple and bolts right on top of the cylinder no timing chain etc involved like on my Honda clone 125cc. But how come no valves or where are the valves?

That's a Beta; they make terrific products.

That engine is a two-stroke, hence no conventional valves. There will be a reed valve ahead of the carb that allows the air/fuel/oil mixture into the combustion chamber.

Listen to the bike in the video, and you'll hear a sound similar to angry bees. Distinct two-stroke sound.

A two-stroke can be a fickle mistress. I've had a few, and I'm currently rebuilding a '79 Suzuki TS250. I'm installing two-stage Boyesen power reeds in it, so the power delivery is much smoother. In stock form, two-smokes tend to have little bottom end, and then come alive in a wicked way at about mid throttle.

They smoke and stink, which is awful and wonderful. You can slide a new piston and rings into one in minutes. They eat spark plugs and spit out fouled useless slugs.

you need to ride a late model 2 stroke... still have the top end
but the power delivery is now very linar compaired to the older
piston port motors...
Adjustable power valves so you can set the power delivery
as you like it...

I have owned.. well god knows 15 or more 2 strokes
still have 2... 1977 Montesa cota 348 & 1980 Montesa H6 125 enduro...
The demise of the 2 strokes was a sad day....

Wasn't the 79 TS250 a piston port motor... No reed block..
Yer got me head sratching now... better do the google thing...

Reed valve; I was holding them in my little hands the other day. I'm hoping for a nice, linear power delivery with the two-stage Boyesen reeds.

I think the piston port Suzukis were done by '76.
