Does this bike seem to pull 50-55 all right with the stock gearing, without making it scream?

Got the 250 in the garage here, and after a few changes in the carb and the air duct it even runs decent.

Congrats

On the 250 I had to replace the rear pocket from a 50 with a 37 in order to get the bike not scream. on the upside, now that I have the carb, the airbox and the rear sprocket replaced it outperforms the speedo, even with my 240 on it.

What rear sprocket did you use Apleschu? Was it a simple Honda replacement sprocket? The older GY200 bikes (i.e. 2005, '06) were definite Honda clones as far as rear wheels were concerned, and the aftermarket sprockets were easily found and plentiful as a result. Is this still the case with the Bashan? The TMEC enduro went with an oddball hub, which is my only real complaint about my bike...

Hi Andy. What changes did you make? Does yours have any of the tank leaking issues when full that dossbag and myself are having?

Doesn't even have to be full.. I had 2 gallons in it and did some rough riding and it came out. I pulled the inside of the cap apart and I'm not sure I put it back as it was. It didn't leak after that but might not have had time to build up pressure.

3000km update!

hello! the bike is running good!!only had a few small issues so far. have about 3000 km on it now. small issues are: exuast stud broke, chain seems to come out of adjustment every few 100 miles, a few nut and bolts got lose (no big deal), i have noticed the fuel issue. if you top it of it spills for the first 10 miles but not as bad as the other bikes on here. engine is running good! checked the valves and they were in check, ex valve was a little tight. Rear tire wearing a bit (few burn outs in the rain) Has a small amount of movement on the bolt that goes through bottom shock mount... Ill make a rubber bushing. Did a 37t rear sprocket from a 50t. It did wonders being a square stroke motor the taller gearing is nice! the inertial torque propells the bike nice at higher speed with lower rpm! increased mpg and top speed. still good on the trails! stock gearing was to jerky and had to shift to often. I deleted the smog pump thing on the head.seams to run a bit better Im planning on doing a few mods to it.

Wink sprocket mod

for the rear sprocket i had to drill new holes to make it fit 5mm closer to center hole. total of 10mm dia. I used the old sproket as a template and a drill press. The holes overlap a bit but ive done 1000miles like that and no probmlems to report. took 6 links out of the chain. I got the the sprocket for $20 shipped.
VERY good investment!

Good news that top speed and MPG improved with the 37 tooth.

You got me thinking...are there places that sell 'blank' rear sprockets that can be drilled out? I would have thought that your rear wheel was a clone of an old Honda like many of these Chinese enduros, and you would have been able to simply order one for a '79 XL185 like we used to use as our bike via Dennis Kirk.

The TMEC's only drawback is there are very few sources of rear sprockets since the bolt pattern is used by a few European spec motard bikes like the Derbi Senda 125, and the Yamaha XT 125 motard (a European-spec bike not available here). The easiest way I found was an online bike parts dealer in the UK who was willing to ship the replacement sprocket to the US (they seem like the only one who would sell internationally). The smallest sprocket is a 48 tooth.

Thanks, Blueberry!! I am thinking about ordereing one of these too, so it's great to hear about your experiences! If I do, I have to have it shipped to the big island of Hawaii near Hilo. I think one of these would make a good island bike. Lots of gravel roads here.
