Arashi Wind Deflector...Joe #2 Question

In order to quiet the wind noise at highway speeds (55-60 mph), I installed the Arashi wind deflector that Joe #2 posted about.

It seems to be a quality (made in China) part. I'm particularly impressed with the hardware, and its infinite adjustability.

I won't know if it works until tomorrow.

The question for Joe #2 is where do these 2 left over parts go?

I think they have to do with the rubber mounting clamps, but don't see any real need for them.

I have those parts lying around also. I didn't use them. Make sure to put some locktite on the 4 allen screws, don't over tighten or they'll (A) break the windscreen and/or (B) push themselves through the black rubber and mar the windscreen.

In hindsight I'm thinking those could be put behind the black rubber so the 4 allen screws push on the metal instead of directly on the rubber.

Thanks, Joe. Will fiddle with it a bit more.

Thanks for reminding me of the thread locker.

Correct as usual, Sir.....

The metal plates install inside the rubber cushions.

Without them, the setscrews nearly bottom out.

All of the wind diverters I have purchased have 2 metal plates for exactly that reason.

Update:

After ~1,000miles , the wind deflector is not a cure for wind noise.

I've adjusted the deflector to multiple positions.

It does seem to help. At least the pitch of the noise is different...

The cure is for me is no windshield at all. But that means I would be covered with bug guts.

If I stand on the pegs so my head is in the clean air, the wind noise noticeably decreases.

A Cure for wind noise is ear plugs.
A Cure for bugs splatting your face shield is wind deflecter. rj

My wife has the "tall" windscreen from a guy off the facebook page, works great.

I prefer the AMC Eagle.

I had a 72 Maverick, stroked 302(347) with GT40 heads and a Art Carr C-6 trans, slap shifter etc. I miss that car, man it was fast.

Anywho.. I will be getting another of the tall windscreens soon, anyone want to double up to save some shipping?

I am interested. Sent a message to Mr. Yoo last week requesting a quote, but no response yet...how much would be the shipping savings?
