Any issues in the Louisville area with Registrations?

I am waiting for my 08 LiFan GY-5 to arrive and I would like to use it as a commuter bike. Has any one run into issues in the Louisville area with getting the bike registered?

Tomorrow is the big day. With papers in hand I will ride over to the Kentucky DMV and pray I come home with a plate.

I think KY has been one of the easier states.

Think positive, take a deep breath. No isn't an answer, find out how.

update

I went to the DMV and the bike passed inspection. When I went to the desk to get my plate they said that they could not accept bill of sale from a out of state dealer. They made me fax a Verification of Transfer for Registration sheet to Brian at motoxtreme.net. This form needs to have all the same information as the bill of sale on it and it needs to be noterised as well.

Once I receive this form is filled out by Brian and faxed back to me I will make the tip again and see why the inbreads have to say again.

Thanks...

I got my Ky title in the mail this week. It took about a month.

I bought the bike in West Virginia and their rules were a little different so it took a little bit longer standing at th DMV. I had to have an "oficial" cost statement and they were being pretty picky over what they would accept. I had my bill of sale and recipt, but it wasnt good enough for them, but after a little talking they said they would accept it if it was notorized...so they faxed it to the dealer and he went and had it notorized for me and faxed it back to the DMV office while I stood there.

Another thing that could have turned ugly for me was the certificate of origin. In Wv it doesnt need to be notorized to get a title, but in Ky they told me that if there is a spot for a notorization then it has to be notorized...it had a spot. The lady at the desk told me that sometimes it slips through the cracks and the title comes through without it, but if not then I would have 30 days from the time they rejected it to get it back in the mail, take it to the dealer to have it notorized, and send it back or my registration would be cancelled and all reg and tax fees would be lost.

I was happy when the title came in the mail...i must have slipped though that crack

BTW, I bought from an official american dealer for anyone curious.

I got me tag this morning and started riding!!!

Just some FYI:

If you live in Kentucky and you order a bike from out os state you will need to get the Kentucky VTR form from the Kentucky DMV and have it notarized by the seller. With out this document you will not get your plate.

Here is a link to the form:
