RX3 Use of Part

Hi,

I'm trying to familiarize myself with the RX3 and I'm not sure what the use of this part is:

Can someone please let me know what this part is for/if it's missing a cover or piece? Seems strange that it's free floating/not attached to anything. Thanks!

Sure looks like a carburetor to me ,but I thought all the rx3s were fuel injected in North America ?.It isn’t free floating ,it is held to the intake manifold with the trusty hose clamp ,and on the other end is an air filter .

Yes, that's a carb. OP did not say where his bike is located...it appears he is in an area where the RX3 is sold with a carb. I think he is asking if the throttle cable connection to the carb should be under some kind of cover.

prob had or could have a cover but unless in mud it isn't striclty needed.
Maybe a cover would only trap the mud?!
If you want best performance a fancy lectron or the like carb would do wonders.
Why so much orange sealer........

Ok thanks for the replies. So it's the throttle cable connection, that is the answer I was looking for. I know what the carburetor is (I'm not THAT much of a newbie), but this basically a floating disc, outside of the main enclosed carburetor. I haven't seen this on other bikes such as Honda's and Suzuki's. I will try to add another photo that shows it does have an end that should be secured to something, but is not.

This bike was manufactured in Colombia, 2019.

Does anyone know if the throttle cable connection should have a cover/if I could improvise one?

better to cover but.... keep it clean in there. (not so uncommon to have a cover)
mount the idle adj screw to the base of carb while you are about it.

Went back to the mechanic and it turns out they forgot to mount the idle adjust screw and put the cover plate back on! Easy fix. Goes to show the importance of knowing the bike yourself.
