Yet another first oil change! Look there, I coined my very own acronym!!!

450 miles, does this look bad???

It's fine, the amount of iron fluff will reduce for several oil changes.

Most of that is from gear teeth as they wear in to each other.

My 2015 had that 5 o clock shadow beard also plus a lot more white silicon seal type debris in the 2 strainer filters. Will get cleaner after a few oil changes. rj

The fine metal filings are why it's a good idea to do frequent oil changes for the first few hundred miles (IMHO). Oil is cheap and the bike holds less than two quarts. The filter is catching even more of this swarf so change the filter too. When you can remove the magnetic drain and only see a trace of metal it's time to lengthen your oil change interval. If you are still concerned just send oil samples to Blackstone Labs for analysis. That way you get some concrete numbers to compare from one oil change to the next. You also get a break down of the non magnetic stuff....copper, aluminum, etc as well as liquids like antifreeze. My own experience was that the engine stabilized at about 1500 miles. I also switched to a hotter thermostat because it looked like the engine was not getting hot enough, based on fuel in the oil. Now my oil samples come back with the recommendation to go longer interval between changes.
